  1. Those are some great fish names! I always imagined Cheech and Chong to be a pair of inseparable, slow and clumsy fish
  2. You need good lighting and a decent camera. The best fighter shots I've seen are on aquabid, most of them move their fish to a small photography tank filled with crystal clear water, get the fighter to flare and then take photos with an external flash.
  3. I'm sure we get most of those in NZ, have you asked Organism about these fish? It seems like you might be interested in 'oddballs'
  4. You're right, I haven't seen your tank.

    Project AA

Nearly four months on, growth has been slow. Bit of hair algae and yellow leaves but I've been neglecting this tank so it's to be expected.
  6. That's all there is to it really. I've never seen it in high flow areas. Low flow = dirt build up = lack of nutrients = BGA.
  7. The owner obviously doesn't have a hungry oscar in the next tank
  8. See if you can identify your algae using this guide. If I were you, I'd drop my lights down to 6hrs (on a timer if possible) and stop with the nutrients just to see what happens.
  9. Can you list all the details of the tank? Dimensions/model, lighting type and hours, any CO2 and nutrients, any other equipment in the tank.
  10. You know Henward, most people put their cars in the middle of their garages Looking good dude.
  11. But what's the point if you're barely increasing light output?
  12. Just go with the regulators designed for aquariums, not welders. Fish-street.com has all you need.
  13. I've had no issues with moisture all over my reflectors and hood, the waterproof endcaps do their job well!
  14. That's okay, I know the unit you're talking about. No you can't "convert" them, the only way would be to get new light hoods.
  15. I didn't do it! Mum just took a photo of me and the gang 8)
  16. I like the end result, does it really matter how it got there?
  17. Thanks Joe! Yes that's how I usually do it My palette with probably limited to just chain sword and hairgrass this time, I feel the scape doesn't really allow for much more than that.
  18. More details would be appreciated. Do you have a photo of the hood? Inside and out would be ideal. I removed the T8 unit from my MasterPet tank hood and replaced it with two T5HO tubes using the Hagen Glo twin ballast unit. See here for details.
  19. It's a shame the light is mostly on the wood, not the plants. Considered getting a full length light?
  20. Neither! I've had great success with Aquaone and Jager.

    The What's Up? thread.

I promise you you'd get them back looking as good, if not better, than when you gave them to me
  22. Reminds me of the shallows in Rarotonga

No you couldn't, commuting in Auckland is ridiculous at the moment! If you need me to hold a couple of tanks for you during the move, I'm more than happy to do so
  24. With decent spectrum halides and quality fish, those colours would be about right actually.
