I would devide in to 3 groups of 4 and weigh 2 them. I am a lucky guy so the 2 would be the same limiting it to 4 coins left I would then weigh 2 of the coins and 2 of the ones we already know are the same. If these are the same I know one of the 2 in my hand is the odd one (of if different the ones on the scales). I would then for my 3rd weight place one of the coins on the scales keep one in my hand and put one of the known coins on the scales and if it is different you have the culprit and if the same then the one is in my hand is the odd one. Am I right?

There is a difference between a few crumbs and a plant. If you are growing for personal it is looked at as the first step to supply so they come down on you hard and there is no way they would lit you use diversion. Also if they charge someone else they can not use diversion on someone else for the same thing. When I had the opportunity to use my diversion I was not able to because one if the people involved had already been charged. I was told then (10 years ago so may have changed) that if one is charged all are charged and diversion could not be used. This was not for drugs
