i love the poly with the holes. must do something like that. looks so awesome. is it siliconed into the back? would it work if i just siliconed it to the bottom so it was in the middle so my fish could swim through the holes?

does anyone have or know anyone who raises up saltwater fish to eat, like flounder, trevelly (SP?) etc? nothing massive though. thanks

two males gathered eggs yesterday and one got his today. and one of the ones from yesterday morning have ONLY JUST hatched. they look funny and he is darting round trying hard to keep them in the nest, but it looks like his are a bunch of falling fry. poor guy. hes doing well tho! didnt realise they could hatch in about 30 hours!? how do they get to the other side of the tank if they not meant to be free swimming yet?? a couple are sorta skimming below the surface.

ive started breeding and ahhh dunno what to do with all the fry. gonna join three batches up in grow out tank. husband wasnt happy with the light so moved the tank (didnt think about it) and we have lost about 1/2 to3/4 of one lot of eggs. hope dad can find them all.

im a bit dense PWN?? explain please. 60 years really? ill be an old great grandma by then. bugger that! i worked at the aquarium in CHCH for a time and they had a number that size. they said that they breed in the wild. hardly in captivity, said that in captivity, when there eyes go murky/blueish you need to release them so they can breed. or something like that. i might be wrong, it was a number of years ago now. ive had 3 kids since, so gone a bit mad. :lol: :lol: :lol: :lol:

hello, can i put a painted ceramic decoration in my tropical tank.i have found at warehouse a lovely painted terrracotta pot with a bird attached. lovely. wil the paint come off? is it safe to use?

ill have to take some tomorrow after they have been feed then you can see them with orange bellies. excuse the mess on the bottom of tank, as i tried to clean it and got babies as well. but they are moving home soon and be easier to clean. i will take some and get them up this week hopefully they are so cute. hope my other lot have eggs in morning. boys are new to this game and not too sure.

so like a swimming pool size?a large one? u not worried it will try and eat ur smaller ones? what do you feed eels that large?

wow i want one! my eel is only about 30 cms or soo. is tiny. what have you got THAT in? must be a swimming pool sized pond thing! geez you wouldnt want to meet that in the stream. ahhh. dont know if hubby would let me keep one that big he wants me to get rid of my little eel . but i had it for 10 years now. it was only 5cms when i got it. gotta do a water change on tuesday and get another filter as my filter broke. pity you cant send one my way. LOL can you put up a photo of you eel family?

thats what the guy at the fish shop told me too. he said a guy turned up with a bucket with 200 odd fighters in it coz he was going overseas and needed to sell them. he said he had them all together , that he had 400 together lots of males in there, that he spawned a few females at same time adn when the babies were a few weeks old, he put them all together and he had no problems, i think he had plants and things like those boats you can get for tanks for them to hide in. we are going to try it. i have some fry that are 2 weeks old and going into a tank later this week. i have put 3 pairs together tonight. will i be able to put them all together, even though there will 2 1/2 week gap?? i guess as long as your tank is large enough its fine.

thanks for that. ill get a grow out tank sorted for them this week. i tried to siphon of gunk off the bottom and ended up with some fish too, they were okay. out of the lot you gave me i ended up with 4 females (including that CT female) the rest are boys, three of which we are keeping coz they are awesome colours. thanks

when can i move them to a larger tank? they are two weeks old yesterday and i would like to know if i can move them as what they are in is not that big. will the move kill them or they be okay??

you could always bottle them.
