  1. yea i have a red crown tail girl, shes almost ready to breed, starting to get the marble shape to her , hopefully a few more days. he should be able to wrap her, if not ill use my large VT to breed with her. my boy is meant to be a VT but he doesnt have the flowing back tail. and seems to have spikes starting to grow from it. cant wait till he gets bigger and i can see what he is.
  2. i have a young male that looks like a comb tail. so pretty. 3 months old and making wonderful nests.i love the red with black lip. if my boy is making nests that means hes old enough to breed right?
  3. it sounds like a damn good idea. we have a caravan that he wants to fill with fighters, he wasnt keen but then he saw the first male and was in love, then a new 3 month old male we have got is red and blue and blowing nests already...hes in love with them thinks they are cool. was thinking of just having a few holes in the tops of the partitions that way the water flow wouldnt bug the fish too much, or should i have holes all over the partitions?? thanks for the help
  4. my hubby reckons we get a large glass tank and partition it off for keeping males. not sure where he thinks we will put a filter adn heater tho. but sounds like a cheaper idea.
  5. a carpet eel?? thanks will builders sand be better than silica sand?
  6. builders sand? whats that like? what colour is it? how hard to clean?
  7. i was thinking of silica sand that i can get from placemakers. would that be okay. what sort of reed or rush? do i plant them? do they need light? thanks heaps. i thought i would give my eel something better than boring gravel and rocks.do they love sand?
  8. i dont know what sort of eel, i got it from a pet store about 12 years ago. it has bumps on the nose and is a brown colour. thats all i know . would it be okay with the sand?? i dont think it would mind the lights, its got plenty of hiding spots and comes out more at night. could it still burrow in the sand if there are plants there?
  9. is it okay to put silca sand in a tank with an eel? and can i put plants like glosso, dwarf sag or hair grass in it??
  10. i might be totally wrong here, but i "think" clown loaches dont do that and they are algae eater. i think.

  18. i was just worried about the gas that builds up to dangerous levels in the sand.
  19. i saw the video , but it showed cleaning tanks that were not planted out. how do you get to the sand if you have dwarf sag or hair grass covering it. thanks
