  2. not he she, i did have 4 girls but last night one commited suicide coz the lid wasnt one and she jumped out. i have 3 girls at the moment adn dont know how many i can have in that. any ideas?? could i have 10 girls in there if its planted? i did have my lovely boy in there, but now have a total of 4 boys. i am gonna get a tank made that has partitions and plant them out for the boys each. too with no filter. thanks for the help
  3. any of those gonna be for sale?? :bounce: i dont like gravel coz the stuf goes between it and its hard to get out without siphoning up kuhli loach! i was gonna plant in pots put ontop of sand for effect!
  4. ive got three tiger lotus plants, they are just babies tho. going to get some indian fern. do you have your floating or planted. im going to turn my tank into a sand substrate tank with lots of plants. the local fish shop has some nice plants that have HUGE leaves and long stems and some that are bushes made out of long leaves. lovely.
  5. i might stick a sponge filter in the corner. coz the tank is a 22L and i have betta who dont like current at all.
  6. i want to plant my tank out, but how dense can i plant it out?? i have bettas who would love to hide out in the plants.
  7. i have been told that i dont need a filter if i have a decent planted tank. what plants are good at removing amonia (sp?) etc and clearing the water. if i have to ill have a sponge filter but would rather plant my bottom of tank fully out. thanks.
  8. is that a pic of it.? if so its soo cool id love that in my betta tank, so would my girls!
  9. im looking forward to sorting out a big tank and getting one of these. how high does my tank need to be?
  10. i was told that bettas can tolerate temps down to 15 or 16 degrees!
  11. he may have been joking, but im up for a challenge! it may be possible! with Co2, ferts and good lights, anything is possible! hey at school we grew plants in the fridge in water, didnt open fridge for 2 weeks, and they were still growing (started seeds in fridge). whats red pine like? im thinking of dividing my tank into sections using perspex so that the plants with runners are contained to one area. and one LARGE centre piece in a nice large pot.with a light on it!
  12. will a bonsai survive underwater?? what sort will be okay. i was thinking of a bonsai oak, redwood or pine.
  13. where did you get black sand? sorry for going off topic again. :bounce: :bounce:
  14. wouldnt the Co2 bother the fish seeing they breath O2?
  15. you can use DIY CO2, with yeast, sugar and water or the more expensive but better and more effective CO2 cannister. I'd recommend sag - its a nice plant, and grows well. nice flowers too. Indian fern is also a really nice plant that looks amazing if you set it up well. kauri, oak, cedar, redwood etc have barks to rival the best in the world but I highly doubt they would do well in a tank  If you have a high tank, you can try your hand at anubias hastifoila - read my post and see the pics in this section to see what it looks like. its pretty tree like.
  16. hard to kill. PMSL, i KILLED it! maybe not enough lighting, nutrients etc i guess. thinking of indian fern for a small plant. trying to find something different is there any pink, red trees? i want to make it like a underwater forest. that is gonna be hard
  17. is there no plant that is like a tree, like with a nice solid stem/trunk and branches?
  18. my ambulia all died on me, the rest look pretty nice on google. what type of light should i get? and how do i do the whole Co2 thing to make the plants grow well. and have a forest in my tank. i love Sag it looks so awesome too. i want a tank full of lovely lush GREEN plants.
  19. what are some bushy tree like plants that u could plant in my betta tank for a forest effect? i want to eventually add an underwater waterfall made from sand and give the effect of a river with trees growing along the bank.
  20. how long do underwater lights last?
  21. where do i get an underwater light? and can i get different colours ?such as blue etc? does underwater lighting not "go" with natural plants and driftwood? i was thinking of a two layer tank and thought underwater lighting would allow the bottom to be seen easier. can i aim lights to shine on certain parts like water falls etc? bubbles? etc or lighting up a plant? or lighting up a corner for feeding baby brine shrimps out.
  22. how would you dye the water inside the bottle without it getting into the rest of the tank? forgive me if its easy to do. ive got a couple of different tanks in mind. one is a mountainous one made with expanding foam and polystrene. and one that has a bubble water fall with the lighting aimed to create coloured bubbles. ill have to look on DIY for that moss thread. how do i make a real waterfall? with water?
