Can't speak for anyone else but my 430lt tank gets 20% water change every week.
PH 7.0
Ammonia 0
Nitrites 0
Nitrates 0
GH 71.6
KH 89.5
Temp 26.5
There are 2 external filters running on this tank so plenty of flow.
I think the blues I got were already carriers of a parasite as many new fish introduced are. Obviously very stressful fish and the stress lets the parasite take hold.
That's my opinion anyway.
Might be the wrong place to post a photo... but never mind!
Blue veil tail girl:
Boy is pretty but she unleased her mouth on his tale in the bag while they travelled....naughty girl!!
I have got new fish who have introduced white spot :an!gry
Have tried formalin as advised by shop owner with no luck.
Is it safe to use Blue Circle White Spot Cure with loaches an eel and plants??
Please help.
The previous owner had put the tape on. I assume that would have been the reason.
Tape was around the bottom too to cover the polystyrene from their children picking at it, but this was removed on moving the tank.
Hey Danval
I have been going to Rotorua to buy my fish lately.
The two blues I got were very colourful. I think good stock was imported this time round.
Was there again yesterday and bought a pair of blue veiltale rams (very beautiful) and a pair of blue acara's.
Were they blue rams at World of Water? and how much?
Well my girl is now not looking so hot.
Have taken her out and giving a bath in salt and Malkon (an old treatment that I have some of - old schoolers on here would know what it was).
See if it makes a difference if not I guess I will have to euthanise her :tears:
Anthony -"Real cars will continue to have right of way over Japanese cars."
 Depends what you define a "real car". I have a jap car that most other "real cars" as you put it eat my dust 8) :digH:
I too bought a pair 2 weeks ago. We're ok at first but did notice that they breathe a lot faster than all the other fish. Anyone else seen this?
Anyway on monday I couldn't find the male and last I'd seen him he was slightly bloated I thought. Still no sign of him till about an hour ago when I went to clean the tank glass and got that dead fish smell - then I found him. I think he only died today.
I too paid more for mine - $31.40 each
Question is do I get another male for her? :-?
Antwan - do you find that they breathe faster than your other fish?
I got a pair nearly 2 weeks ago and I haven't seen the male all week. Thought he had a swim bladder issue. Female won't eat.
First try dropping the sand level to half the amount you have maybe even more at the rear. I found it was the fact I would not have been getting right into the bottom with the siphon. Of course you suck some up but I just put it back.
What tank is it in?
He has disappeared somewhere can't find him in the jungle. Did put some salt in there as noticed that the female looked a bit off but I think she is full of eggs too. Only got them a week ago even travelled to buy them So colorful too
Don't think he was sick enough to die yet tho :-?
Juvenile male blue ram not swimming properly. Seems to sink easily. Slightly distended stomach. No colour or scale loss. Everyone else in tank is fine even his mate.
Ideas of what it could be?
How about 1 part bleach to 10 parts water? I have used this for my tanks and tank ornaments etc for 20 odd years and have had no probs.
I have a ar850 that I bought second hand that was a salt water tank. Bleach mix got rid off all the built up calcium.
Good luck
I just did a rearrange in my JD and GT tank and yeah I got the sulphur smell. Pretty gross. I took out half the sand as I can't grow any plants in with them anyway.
Perhaps the sand is too deep?
The Aqua One 620T tanks use PL tubes in their lights. These I found in the 620T I owned did penetrate to the bottom ok and will continue to if replaced every year. I have seen light fittings sold individually with these bulbs.
All the best.
