  1. I have Norton. To be honest I never was too keen on it years before but the computer I bought over a year ago came with a free trial. To be honnest I found it far better than it used to be that I purchased a years registration. We have had it running on both Windows 7 computers with downloading and a home network and it never slows the computers down or is any way a pain. Also doesn't have a spaz anymore if you add other software after installing it :happy1:
  2. Well that is very very good to know!
  3. Thanks for the reply. Does the BOC regulator you have got have the ability to be on a timer? BOC told me that they cannot supply the type of regulator I am after.
  4. Updated photo. Taken tonight 4 weeks after the original photos. I've had to cut back the cabomba twice in that time. The tiger lotus did sulk and lose it's leaves so I moved it to the front right and those leaves are all new since the last photo
  5. Power glo etc are the types of bulbs yes. Some brands call the same thing different names. The T5 units are sold new with no bulbs so you get to choose what you want. I will possibly be setting up a bigger tank for my GT, JD and severum and I wont be going T5 as there wont be any plants to soak up the nitrate so I would have algae problems with strong light. That tank would have PL's or T8's. Good luck!
  6. Why are the tips clear like that? I have noticed a couple of leaves on my Java Fern like that.
  7. I have a 122cm GLO T5 twin and I must say it is great. But I bought it for a densely planted tank. If you are keeping Africans (I assume) you would not need that much light IMO T8's would be plenty
  8. I've had a female fighter often jump when the lid was lifted on the tank 3 times she made it out and hit the floor. Everytime was picked up and put back in and was fine. My mum now has this tank and fish and was pre warned! What is it about the fighters? :-?
  9. No I wasn't worried just curious as havent set up a co2 system on a tank before. Thanks for the help so far all Have asked about the filter warranty with a reactor and told it is ok - on the outlet hose of course. Has anyone used ubarns regulator on a hired boc gas bottle? I am told the boc fittings are different. This has to be the most complex thing I have ever done in the hobby!
  10. Yeah I was thinking that I might need to use 2 diffusers, one at each end at the filter outlets.
  11. The side of the tank that I was looking at putting the gas bottle has a Eheim 2213 filter. Is only 3 weeks old. I might need to look into this before I decide by what means I am going to get co2 into the tank.
  12. I wonder though if connecting a diffuser up to my external filter will void the filters warranty? I also have 2 external filters so the co2 would still only mainly be on one side. Thoughts?
  13. I can speak from experience regarding the gravel. Had a goldfish who was appropriately nicknamed "stoner" as he had a habit of ingesting flat stones then getting them stuck by trying to push them out of his month width ways instead of the way it must have gone in. Many a time I had to take him out and remove it with tweezers. Of course I would throw each stone out everytime - it was the traditional fruit salad :-?
  14. Could you put up a photo to show me how it is plumbed in? And the reactor means no need for a diffuser?
  15. Hey guys Jacob was asking for suggestions not your own personal opinions on his setup - each to their own guys. Jacob it looks good and I love the placement of the stones and driftwood. Great for a newbie My only suggestion would be to find a background for the tank it would help disguise your cables at the back. Hopefully you can find one that is that tall. -K.
  16. Thanks Linda. She came from a shelter actually that 3 of our 4 cats are from. She picked us as even the lady who had been feeding her for months couldnt get near her. Has come leaps and bounds and is a sook  Last night I was getting face smooches and have a cold and she licked my forehead to comfort me awww  I am a huge animal activist and to see the above photo angered me so much that I was lost for words! I have no respect for those that don't know the real value of an animal.
  17. Thanks guys. I have been looking at the diffusers and regulators that the person on ebay sells who you guys bought off. I can't make heads or tails about which diffuser or bubble counter is the best one for my size tank (430lt). Help please!! :-?
  18. So you didn't need a non return valve with that regulator? Did you use a bubble counter?
  19. Our female cat Verushka brings us leaves. But not any old leaves the Michelia ones. Sometimes after being at work you come home to 2-4 leaves on the lounge carpet. She is very proud about catching her "prey" :gigl:
  20. Hey js1987 I have cycled a number of tanks before and a product called prime is great. You just top it up after each water change after the initial dosage. It removes any harmful nitrites and ammonia from the tank. I used this in the 620t with quite a few fish and never lost any. Good luck and just ask if you have any further questions
  21. Hey When I read that you had a buckled wheel first thing I thought was either your suspension is stuffed or the chassey is bent. Been there with my mint old school mr2 years ago. Once banged up like that never the same. Friends had to talk me out of buying the mr2 back. I own a pretty modified wrx now and it was hard to get insurance. But found one and it costs $600.00 a year full insurance! I was stoked. Mind you that's 60% no claims bonus. Good luck with everything
  22. I recently set up a CF1200 and the tip I was given was to full the canister first. Put the lid on with the cap off. Cap on. Then my husband sucked on the outlet pipe I turned the taps to let the water through to the inlet pipe then turned the taps on to the outlet. And all good. First external canister I have set up and got going. Same day I did an Eheim.
  23. Thanks for the help guys Atwan and Allan - Seen as that regulator on ebay is a US plug is it safe to then put it into a plug apapter then into a NZ made timer? Have either of you done this with no problems? The Co2 would be running 8 hours a day. Perhaps you guys could put up some photo's of your setups so I can see how you have done it? Thanks
