  1. Cool, don't often see them.
  2. Never mind about the refractometer question, did some research.
  3. Awesome, went and checked them out today. How much are refractometers? I haven't seen them for sale in store? Also where did you source the LED's? Are they expensive? Yeah I read other recommendations to change the airstone as well. I want to try something like this but on a tank around 50-60L Looks great btw.
  4. Was emptying the dehumidifier today and had a thought; do they extract pure water from the air? If so, would that water be ok for a marine tank? Would chemicals etc remain in the processed water? Or is that flawed?
  5. Did you get HFF to import the setup for you? Yeah I have got the impression from reviews that lighting and skimming on the ready to go systems is often inadequate. Well water chemistry is likely to swing much faster etc in smaller setups; do you use any supplements on the tank? Where do you get auto top off tech? I haven't seen any for sale here. Have you used a refractometer at all? Is the skimmer doing a good job? That was one of the ones I was looking at. Also are you running a sump/refugium? Thanks
  6. My mate put a massive sub and a few neons on one of those...not my kind of thing.
  7. Nah, definitely selectively inbred to bring out body shape/fin traits. I don't believe it would be a hybrid because you would expect to see more of the alternative fish's characteristics too. And it is unlikely that they are that red, I agree with the above comment -tanning lights.
  8. I concur with David. Esp on the rays.
  9. But with such a small volume swings in the chemistry would be rather common no? How do running costs compare to say a 200L freshwater? Salt is the ongoing cost right? (Excluding food/lighting/power)
  10. I was wondering how many people have attempted a marine reef nano tank and if they had any details on how they did it? Did they find costs to be about as high as a more 'mainstream' sized tank? Also, is it possible to have a non-algae covered tank without using RO unit water?

    festae

Love it. I want a festae again, shouldn't have sold mine ages ago.

    my Midas

Mine goes through bouts of aggression, but most of the time he's ok. He's more mottled than this one though, red/orange and white. Looks like a koi. Nice midas btw. Massivore makes forehead grow like a boss, as well as water changes.
  13. Got mine from HFF. I think bird barn might still have a 30cm one for sale?
  14. Bought mine as a baby for $220. Haven't seen one in a little while but assume they run for the same price. Seen some larger ones for around $300. But they are hard to move on.
  15. Definitely something I would like to keep.

    Gravel colour

Charcoal grit. Darker is nearly always better IMO
  17. That's exciting man, jag hybrids look the best imo. obviously the original species are great to have but some terrific hybrids have been created. texas cichlids also make good hybrid choices.
  18. Bit of a grey line in this area, can't exactly go to a customers house and demand to test the tank, but you cannot completely guarantee the health of a fish - although I think the health of your stock is usually of a good standard. Also depends on the sensitivity of the fish, some are more susceptible to stressful events e.g: moving tank.
  19. Well, he won't grow big, he's a small breed. I think they would get along.
