  1. Nice! Is that fry from fish that came in recently?
  2. Don't really want to set up a special breeding tank at this stage; if they spawn again and the fry are free swimming I might rear them separately, but chances of survival could be limited I guess. I didn't even feed them live food to get them spawning lol.
  3. All eggs were eaten. Hope they spawn again!
  4. I bought 4 Apistogramma Agassizii double reds on the Monday just past (2 pairs) and the largest male (3-4cm) has just spawned with a female after only 4 days in my tank. They eggs appear to be pink? Is that indicative of something or should they be another colour? The female MAY be eating them too, not surprised tbh. It's not a breeding tank at all as well; I haven't done anything to the tank which has literally been set up for about a week. Ph about 6.5 I think but need to check again. Amm 0.0, Nitrites/Nitrates at 0.0. Tank mates are 4 pictus :dunno: 10 lamp eye tetras, 2 gba and 1 royal whiptail. Anyone with experience breeding apistos etc got comments? Surprised they bred already.

    Wild discus

    Definitely not wild haha
  6. I have 4 pictus currently and considering more, easily one of the best fish I have owned. Excellent in schools and manic feeders.
  7. I think it would look great planted up.
  8. I keep thinking I should have bought that whiptail when you put him up for sale ages ago haha
  9. They come in from time to time.
  10. Really nice collection there David. I'm spending a lot of time in Ruakaka over summer, so might drop by sometime then.
  11. People taking the entomology paper at UoA use a single pin with a large head and stick bugs that can't be pinned on that. Maintains the structure of the specimen with compromising it.
  12. Darker substrate looks better IMO, better colours in fish brought out.
  13. Grow them out, see what they look like. Try and get a 3 eyed fish from the simpsons.
  14. 1st option will be more interesting, try a group of pantadons and could even put in a polypterus.
  15. Concur with David. 1000L is appropriate for an aro. Kept a silver and a jardini (not at the same time) in a 6ftr, they got to about 25/30cm and I sold them off, felt the tank was too small. Especially for the silver.
  16. Game of thrones is awesome, and the big bang theory keeps getting better and better. Wasted 2 mins of my life watching NZ x factor when I turned on the tv, needless to say my time would be better spent watching cat videos.
  17. yup, all loaches will eat them.
  18. If a disto lussuso comes into the country you should get that one, gets bigger and cooler.
