  1. Wicked, will check them out soon.
  2. Oh yea? Do they get in good bettas?
  3. Hey everybody, just wondering if anyone is producing some white/red plakat fighters at the moment? I'm after females. I also posted in the WTB section. I just bought a red dragon male plakat fighter and I want to try and produce some quality fighters; only interested in producing plakats really, not into the veiltails etc. I'd like to try other colours too, but will start off with this for now Merry christmas btw :cr5:
  4. The quality of the fish section highly depends on the aquaria manager. When you have someone involved who is passionate, then the tanks are kept in good order and interesting fish are brought in. When Morcs worked at animates Henderson it was looked after better than it is now.
  5. Yeah, I took one look at those fish and decided the $250 price tag was over by about $245.
  6. Will you be selling any? Congrats on the breeding, they look great.
  7. That sucks dude. Sometimes weird stuff just happens keeping fish.
  8. Only just able to start working? At 19? Unfortunately saying that you only want to work with animals is extremely restrictive. You have to be pretty flexible with your first jobs usually. I suggest you just try to get work within hospitality and customer service sectors - once you have some experience in serving the public you might find it easier to get jobs. Everyone is finding cash dollar hard to find atm; problem is with young people who have to experience is that the employers don't want to take us on due to the fact that they then have to spend money on someone else to train us; so they prefer to take someone who already knows the gist of what's happening. Most of the fishy stuff you would like to do is based around mainly customer services - probably the best thing to get experience in. HFF didn't seem interested in part time staff when I asked a couple of years ago; but they did take on fulltime workers. Worth a try since it's a quality establishment.
  9. This ^^ Sure, you may want to work at animates/animal related industry, but tbh you can't really afford to be picky about employment atm. The others are right about the travel costs; 30-50$ really isn't that much a week and lately petrol was 202.9! Woop! Yeah you can't be overly judgemental of a place with dead fish in the tanks, even hollywood has stuff die. If you got jobs at these places you could aim to fix it? We aren't trying to be a downbuzz, just realistic.
  10. Pretty bad idea to try and import stuff unless you want a fat fine.
  11. Instead of getting your next tank you could just get a painting on the wall
  12. I think the number one thing IMO would be choosing dimensions and design that minimises effort on maintenance; if you go too big and you can't maintain it properly then it's probably worth losing the extra 10cm or whatever. Ultimately you want an A class looking tank with quality stock; if you can achieve that without spending more on size/thicker glass then go with the cheaper option. :dunno:
  13. They played at the Foo's concert last year but I didn't really like it that much. Maybe the other acts just made them seem mediocre. Although the Maori guy on guitar was pretty cool.
  14. Yea Kiwi music is great, and it's on the up and up. Probably because of the money they are putting into it. Supergroove are awesome, love black seeds, six60 are cool, and I still listen to some crowded house.
  15. I agree with DavidR. Nothing wrong with hybrids, but I do think there should be a goal to the breeding rather than haphazard sampling. No point in making a rubbish looking hybrid when the original species looks so much better. But look at the Flowerhorns; line bred to have amazing colour, some have taken it too far and bred ridiculous warped creatures - balance is needed.
  16. Hard out! Completely agree with that. One of the things I like about rock songs is they often have a story behind it; a lot of pop songs atm seem to be just aiming to make a club hit, so not much emotion involved.
  17. And Beyonce used to make good music I thought, lately though...urgh. Freddy mercury is amazing.

  19. Hard out, would have liked to see Them Crooked Vultures, great super group. Missed the Incubus concert at the start of the year too dammit. Oh well, got Coldplay next week, then Red Hot Chili Peppers in January! RHCP has to be one of the best bands ever! So much yum.
  20. I agree that commenting on quality of music is very much an opinionated topic; but I dunno...I think a lot of the stuff coming out nowadays is cheap, superficial and all about the money. There is the occasional gem in the mass of average tunes lately; but often it seems like old bands making good new stuff. I like some rap music, but that really depends on the artist. Rock tends to be a consistent performer in terms of quality, but I liked the 90's-2000's hiphop scene too, just had a much better vibe than the current stuff. Ok, for instance. Take a hit like Smells like Teen Spirit by Nirvana (revolutionised the rock scene), a classic from ABBA or BeeGees, or bohemian rhapsody by Queen; their songs are going to be remembered for a looooong time. Stuff like 'Baby' by the Biebs or 'Spaceship' by that horror that is Minage in my opinion are poor competitors to those oldies. Being in generation 'Y' people just assume that we should like this stuff. Gimme some Jack Johnson any day over that.
  21. :slfg: Nah, she didn't. Didn't provide breeding conditions though. Bichirs would have chomped them asap.
