  1. My greatest fear before P44 clipped Birdie wings was that he'd fly into the turtle tank now then he would be - bye bye Birdie
  2. a snakeneck bite doesn't hurt at all - not like redear - and I always hand feed or else the fish will get his food :-? I find my turtle won't come out of the water to bask - i have a slate rock that slopes so half is right out and the other half in under the water and he will always bask on the part that is just under .. but you need to give them that option to come right out. My turtle also loves walking around the house and it's good excersize, they are very inquizative and nosey
  3. very nice. What size is this tank? and what sort of plecos are in there?
  4. if you manage to find some let me know - i've been looking for it awhile now
  5. Aww they are lovely .. put me on the list if you manage to breed them

    Angel fish

I have 4 fully grown angels in with chocolate cichlids, severums, american tigers, senegals, blue acaras and convicts and they are all fine together i find the other fish leave the angels alone .. I guess you just have to see what happens might work or might not, but i think they should be fine.

    PH ??????

A few questions - Why are you worried about the PH? has it drop drastically lately? If your tank is afew years old and PH is always low then I would not worry about it, your fish will have gotten use to the PH and trying to UP it will really stress the fish IMO I would leave it alone - the only time you may have problems is when introducing new fish to the tank, but if you aclimatise them properly you should be fine.
  8. Royals are cool, my royal is always out and about and he is very friendly too, I can usually give him a "pat" when i'm in there cleaning LOL
  9. That is very cool, well done That fish is so awesome lovely red colour, I might have to get one
  10. My snowball "snowflake" hasn't really grown much at all he/she is only about 10cm proberly won't grow any more. They are also extremely shy plecs, i hardly ever see it.
  11. Awesome stuff - I think the fish were alittle scare of you
  12. Well thanks all for your replies, there are some really good points that have been raised. Like for instance if the cat was to injure my dog on my property? after all the cat has come in my dogs territory and my dog is defending there territory. Yes i would feel absolutely terrible if my dog was to hurt or even kill a cat, but I don't feel I should have to be responsible for any vet bills for the cat .. since the dog is just doing it's job defending his territory. I just hope the cat has been scared off and won't come back - I love cats and would hate to see one get injured by one of my dogs fingers crossed that will never happen.
  13. They are awesome .. as for pricing them - calculate the cost of materials used, then add what you think your time and effort is worth
  14. I have to agree with not adding more discus, I have only introduced 2 new discus to my tank and they got pick on pretty bad, so I have had to separate them. It could work but then it could turn bad - be prepared to separate if need be.
  15. Ok this never happened, but it was a very close call in the weekend. The neighbours at the back of us have a cat that likes coming to our place - now we own 2 dogs that are not cat friendly. In the weekend there cat was on our property and one of my dogs saw it and bailed it up our tree - we managed to get our dog inside so we could get the cat down and off our property. Thankfully puddy is fine. But what i want to know is - if my dog did manage to "get it" are we responible for the vet bill, since the cat was on "our property"? What are your thoughts?

    Juwel Tanks

? if I removed the internal filter then i would have no filter running. The box is silconed into the tank - i do intend on trying to remove it when I strip the tank down next time.

    Juwel Tanks

Nice looking tank - but i would never buy one again. I've had nothing but trouble with mine, the filter is no good i have gone through 2 pumps so far (i've only had the tank not quite a year) and now have given up on that filter and run a internal filter so now I am left with a unused big black box inside the tank. also the heaters that come with the tank are rubbish also had that replaced twice. The lights on mine come on when they decide to work.
  18. That is so not fair, how come your tank looks way nicer than mine I think I may have to get you around to plantscape my discus tank ... I think so I love the little bits of schist in there
  19. it always sad when a favorite fish gets sick or dies Like I said before try putting alittle epsom salts in his water - apparently the salts draw out poisons in the body. I have sucessfully treated a fish in "early stages" with epsom salt
  20. LMAO I can't wait to see you new masterpiece :bounce: :bounce:
  21. I am sorry to have to say this - but I personally would put the wee fishie down. By the time you notice the scales sticking out the internal organs will be pretty much damaged.
  22. If the scales are sticking out and it has a swollen belly then it will more than likely be dropsy - which is usually non treatable and not a good thing. You could try putting some epsom salts in the tank.
  23. My hubby is off work for 3 weeks over xmas so we will be spending that time building our new fish room :bounce: :bounce: xmas day we are having my parents and my hubby's mother here for a xmas BBQ - rather exciting our first xmas in our own home :bounce: :bounce:
