  1. Cheers for that Ryan. I'll just wait if you don't know then they proberly haven't sorted it yet. For some reason i am not getting any emails. So please whoever is organising this meeting if you can post up on the forums the details or pm me them, thanks.
  2. thanks Ryan. So where in wanganui do we meet at 11am? This is getting rather frustrating, no i haven't been getting any emails.
  3. So whats happening with the meeting this month? where, when .. and what time?
  4. Congrats - 4 boys will keep you busy :bounce:
  5. Congrats on your new babies, they look super cool and have grown alot in a month The background looks neat - you'll have to post pic's when it's in there enclosure.
  6. Hi there, as caryl said i wouldn't be too concerned trying to adjust your PH your fish will handle it as they are pretty tough. Is the fish finding it hard to go down from the surface or to go up to the surface? is it bloated at all with scales sticking out? I proberly wouldn't be to worried, i often have goldfish that go alittle strange every now and then and they usually correct themselves, i would just keep up with giving them peas for awhile. If it does have bouyancy problems as in shruggling to keep either up or down then i would put it into shallow water for afew days.
  7. Thanks Zev i am soo proud of my wee turtle I tried feeding him a earth worm just before, i don't know who was more scared of it .. me holding the thing or mr. turts, he had a sniff and a snap at it which made me drop it into the water then the worm burrowed uder the rock :-? lol maybe mr. turts will find it later for late night snacks
  8. Well last night was a HUGE success ... RIP little fishie .... but that little fishie went down a treat he LOVED it Matt, we found a few insects and put them in his tank, took a little while for him to notice, but as soon as he saw the legs moving he went straight for them and ate them all up - so i think the crickets will be enjoyed by him Yep i am on to that, however i don't want to have to use the extra vitamins to much - at the moment just supplementing him once a week. i don't think that would work well with him :-? but i really don't think it's nessersary to go to that extreme as he's not bad at all. I am just so happy he is loving all these new food we are giving him
  9. Yes these fish we will be using for food are to big to fit in the turtles mouth, hense why we will need to cut them in half first. I was alittle surprised he didn't go for the worm, but i will keep trying with worms. No he is not fat at all, he's quite hollow in the legs really - when he was eatting the hothouse foods awhile ago he was looking bulging in the legs. Matt that will be great to try him on some crickets awesome thank you - i will PM you.
  10. How rude of you ... you could of got these new fish before I visited you yesterday
  11.  well they do say they are "book worms"
  12. I am very sorry for your lose
  13. Yea I am not to keen on the idea, but if it's going to get goodness in him then we will try anything - just as long as i don't have to do it :-? Tonight we put him into his old bigger tank and he is by himself with no other fish so hopefully we can get him eatting better - I always have to hand feed him or the fish get his food, so now I can put the food in and he can eat at his leasure. Oh by the way P44 - i went to give him that worm tonight and it was GONE!!!!! haha must of escaped out of the bag.
  14. :-? i brought a small piece of salamon for my turtle ... do you really think i would feed it bait food, i think not!! This is squimish and i said he can do it but with me nowhere near ... Well Glen is going to start catching our little fishes and cut them up to feed him then he'll be getting fresh whole fish  hmm the things we do huh. His shell has pretty much finished shedding now and looks so nice a shiny, apart from the 4 little white spots - the 2 biggest spots are proberly the size of a small pea the other 2 smaller spots are half the size.
  15. LOL maybe they were looking for the missing worm?
  16. I brought some fresh raw fish yesterday - one piece of hoki and one small piece of salamon. He loved the hoki and had quite a big fed of that but he didn't like the salamon Phoenix44 kindly gave me a earth worm to try - we dangled it in front of his face and he just wouldn't eat it :-? i'll try again today with the worm.
  17. I is so jealous.. that looks AWESOME!!!
  18. Would this be ok to do? ... I have him in a box made it nice and cozy, have a heat lamp and a uvb light over him, so thought i'd do this every night for ahour. Would it help him, how long would you recommend i leave him in the box for? 1 hour or more? once a day or twice a day .. or more times? I checked out the aussie turtle forum - they recommend that indoor turts should be put outside 3 times a week for at least 20 mins each time. I did this today but he kept going into the shade i'd put him back in the sun and he'd go back to the shade :-? also wondering weather outside in winter wouldn't be so good wouldn't it be to cold?
