  1. Sorry forgot to add - the tank geta a 50% water change every second day and once a week a 80% water change
  2. Ok so I am wanting to put 6 (6cm) clown loaches in my discus tank - but am thinking it is already pretty "full" on the bottom level tank is 3 ft x 2ft x 2ft approx 200 litres with 1200 LPH cannister filter stock so far: 2x 10cm discus, 1x 8cm discus, 1 snowball pleco, 1 BN, 1 15cm royal whiptail, 2 8cm whiptails, 11 assorted cories, 2 zebra loach, 2 yoyo loach, 6 tiny kuhli's, 3 marbled hatchets, 2 SAE i do have bigger tanks that fish can go into when bigger etc So really what i want to know is - when is a tank "overstocked" and can you have too many bottom dwellers?
  3. I have a jewel rio and it's great, easy to clean, looks great, hidden heater - the light won't electrocute you if you acciedently drop in the water  But the only hassle with them is the big huge box filter in them, which can't come out - a real pain when you need to catch fish ie. kuhli loaches - the fishes gets around the back, underneath and in the filter
  4. Thanks for all the great ideas suggested so far
  5. Hubby usually does all the maintaince on the FX5's - but when I have to do them, I usually drain it first into a bucket (this is the water I use to rinse the media in) the hardest part is pulling the hose contections apart (mine you i'm a weakling) so with clearance you need to be able to pull them off - then you only need to pull the cannister out - easy pesy really
  6. Great looking tank .. well done :bounce: My royal whiptail is called "Mr Whippy" too

    Hello :)

    Hi & welcome
  16. My dad brought one to clip his bichon's nails - he says it's wonderful and it does do a good job. My mother-in-law has one too for her bichon & poodle and also swears by them. I've tried them on my nails too  vibrates quite abit - yet to try it on my bull terrior & mastiff
  17. You're joking right? suerly you're not seriously thinking of putting those sized fronts in something that small - you'll be just asking for trouble there mate.
  18. i don't see a problem with it - as long as your filter has been running all that time. I'd proberly do a fairly large water change first and keep an eye on water quatilty ie. amonina (sp?) etc...
  19. If you start the siphon (flow) off in a bucket first, then hold your finger on the end then put the hose out the window you should be away laughing
