    Lighting

I've got all sorts in there, but I think the natural light during the day is really helping, because I've got some red leafed plants that are still red after a month or so, so hopefully they manage to stay that way. In terms of increasing the wattage of lighting, can you buy 200W tubes or do you just add more tubes? Thanks so much for your help!
  2. So none of you guys have said who's got them for sale - do you know of anyone?
  3. Awesome, what do you both do at uni?

    It's a 3ft tank, approx 50cm high. The light I'm using is only 30W
  5. Ok, so now we know who uses the forums at work....now, where do you guys work/what uni/school do you go to? I go to Vic uni in Wellington, and ATM don't have a job (but I am looking)
  6. Awesome, ok, they sound great and look really cool. Now, where can I buy them? Does anyone have some pics handy of what a 'good' boy and girl look like, so if I see any I'll know if they're good or not so good. Thanks in advance my fishy buddies!

    Lighting

ATM I'm using reptile bulbs for my 3ft tank, and my plants are growing awesome (doubled in size in a week). Are they ok lights for growing plants, or what would be better? I'm not really keen for the expense of MH lights. Also, I know you're supposed to have 1w of lighting for every 1l or whatever it is of water - no idea how to work this out thought  . Help much appreciated!
  8. Aw.... I wish I had some to make babies so I could raise fry What size tank do they need and what conditions?
  9. Aw I'm sorry about your birdy . Good on you guys for giving it the best chance you could.
  10. I don't like firstin as much - I don't think the deals are all that good. I guess 1-day sale doesn't always have good deals either, but they Sejm to have the sorts of things I might buy more often.
  11. Guys, what's the big attraction with them? They're kinda (ok, really!) ugly...and they're not really bright colours to be displayed...so what do you do it for, and why do you do it? How did you get into breeding them?
  12. Livingart, that's a really cool emoticon! And man, I'm so out of the loop here!
  13. ...how about everlasting love and gratitude...? :bounce:
  14. Not sure if people here know about this: http://www.1-day.co.nz Basically, everyday, 3 deals come up. There are limited numbers available, so the first in, first served. They have everything on here from food and drink to clothes, sports equipment...you name it. Once they're all gone in a day, they say sold out until 12pm the next day. Sometimes, they have more than 3 deals in a day - some have 1 item that changes every 20 mins, sometimes its 3 items that change every 20min, sometimes they renew every time they sell out - but only for 24hrs, then you're back to 3 deals 1 day. I've bought so many things I don't need from this site (ahem...10kg of easter eggs for $25 inc postage, and 24 bottles of V rings bells here!), and I'd recommend it to all of you too.
  15. Wow, I really hope you guys can work together to save it Good thinking going to LivingArt
  16. Wow, cesarz, can I just come over sometime and have a look at your guppies??

    to many pets ?

I have 3 cats and fish - angels, guppies, bronze corys, bristlenose, GBA's, chocolate zebra, cardinal tetras, blue rams, black widow tetras. Think that's all...
  18. I dropped a baby guppy once...never found it. I spend like half an hour searching. I've also dropped a cory (well, he jumped!) and very nearly dropped my angels a few times!
  19. glass is best. Cans are too fizzy for me. They make me burp. I hate fountain coke.
  20. Never withdrawn fluid for dropsy either! I have access to needles that are used for injecting insulin into animals - think they'd be ok? And where do you stick the needle when treating dropsy?
  21. I agree too, but I've had it happen a few times and haven't been able to save them. If there's a remote chance that they can be saved doing this, I'd like to learn how.
  22. Oh I see, so it's air in the intestines and the swelling stops it from coming out, so you want to suck it out through the syringe? You do use a needle for the sucking right? How do you do it? Take the fish out of the water and lay it on it's back? I've never picked a fish up before...
  23. Really? I'll have to try it if it happens again. imsweet, if you do it, let us know how it goes. phoenix, where do you put the needle bit, just in the middle of the bubble?
