  5. yes yes! lol i will put some up! ha ha. i decided to give the cube to my flat mate and now it has white spot! lol.. haven't had a tank with whitespot in over 10 years! lol Ill put some pics up when i fully finish with the nanos.
  6. perfect timing as always Ira.... lol train your bird well dandalia and all will be peaceful, lol...
  7. you can potty train them and voice train them rusty (my red collar - rainbow hybrid) makes no noise when at home - at all. he doesn't squirt. and he understands and obeys commands. how much time and consistency you put in is what you get out. if you want loud you get yourself a cockatoo.. lol but all can be trained. had exotic birds all my life, and all were very well behaved - but i spent a lot of time training them. if you ever come to palmy you are welcome to check rusty-ruu out , lol... :bounce: but just remember - consistency is key - you must train them well and firmly.
  8. i know... but i specifically wanted to know where these are from. :bounce:
  9. are they poisonous? and what shop were these from?!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. In the wild being key. no freezers in the wild , and no one breeding them to eat ha ha. not the same thing. id just feel sad for it...
  11. so how small are these dwarf puffers when they are fully grown? what do they look like? are they like figure 8's? so many questions - so little time
  12. please tell you guys are joking  its a lille baby rat / mouse... how can you kill it =(
  13. whoa those are really RED! :bounce:
  14. that and add some phoszorb to your filter - remember to fill the phoszorb jar with water and keep it covered for 10 minutes before you put it in your filter!
  15. "right conditions" you say... that's good to hear, ha ha. its very reassuring! Thanks so much alan! PS- it is a horrible time to put plants in the post. I only just received a parcel with an unidentifiable mush of plant matter that once used to be indian fern and water sprite.
  16. some are makes and some are females. lol... what can i do once i know what they are. i even tried collecting the pollen off the males and depositing it on the females. but i don't see the point cause the plant multiplies so fast!
  17. I was hoping you would reply there is a single stem that has a node that branches into typically 3 or 4 substems which have flowers at the end of them. the flower stalks can get very long, there are a few of them that are in excess of 2 feet long!
  18. Hi all, Ive got some dwarf val that has decided to no longer be "dwarf". the leaves are about 30 - 40 cm long! and there are heaps of white flowers everywhere. Is this normal? I thought the whole point of having a dwarf species was that it stayed small!
  19. they can sometimes ingest the sand, and this gets stuck in their gut and builds up - called compaction. I've never kept beardies, but have worked with them and the large one had sand with no problems for a few years.... the term compaction was explained to me by a reptile expert from kruger national park when i was working with snakes many years ago. I still cant understand why they ingest it in captivity, when they live with sand in the wild.... guess its just one of those things.
  20. and i agree with that, lol.... it leads to compaction in captivity.... having said that they seem to do alite in the wild if you want to make a back ground with it, then its perfect.... try astroturf as a substrate initially. seems to be the right thing to do.
  21. exo terra sand comes in red, black and yellow. costs about 20bucks for 2.25 kg. no added colours lol - and is from south africa. if you do see it in a shop, pick it up cause there are delays in bringing the product in.
  22. the importers list call it a borellii... that passes on to the suppliers... and the the retaliers. so when we see a "borellii" on the list and order it in; we have to sell it as a borellii cause that's what the computers receipt the stocks as. there are females. yellow in colour... either that or they are pale silver.
  23. :bounce: they are an awesome fish. did you get a yellow female too? oh and do not get another male. if you thought siamese fighters were bad  well..... they are soooo dominant.... or at least mine is.
  24. ok so i listened to everyones advise, and redid the whole nano setup, and infact i got so caught up with setting up the tank again, I set up a whole new tank, lol. so now have this nano and another cube - (18in by 18in by 18in). sigh* the joys of fish keeping! :bounce: 8)
  25. they are all about a year and a half to 2 years old now. I think that one is a female - the whole blue spot thing didnt work on these guys =( i just had to go on the length of the dorsal fin. females - curved; males - pointed (that and i knew the females laid the eggs lol)...
