  1. amoxocyllin is on its way for my tank, lol... a marine biologist friend of mine in greece suggested that i add a small amount of copper sulfate in the tank to kill the nasties. done that too. i think all i can do now is wait and see what happens. if i medicate any more i may just kill the fish cause of over medication, lol...
  2. Can medication like meth blue, and furan (antibiotics - gram negative) have a negative effect on aquatic plants? Thanks in advance for any light you can shed on this matter.
  3. no one replied but yes you can. i have in the past with no problems ever.
  4. angel fish at first. just looks like it may have hurt itself as the coat is only on one eye. tank as it was before the emperors, rummynoses went in.
  5. i have a few gigs of pics at least! lol the congos, emperors and rummy noses were new additions that are now gone. i think the problem started with 6 serpae tetras I introduced in there. never again *shakes head. its a nightmare man.... as long as my clown loaches and the one butterfly plec survives ill be happy.
  6. just did a 50% H2O change. black neons and cardinals seem fine. there are a few glow lights that look alite. all the congos are gone, and so are the emperors. lost about 80 fish so far i think.
  7. tell me about it, lol kids are liabilities - puppies assets. doesn't take a genius to figure out what i'd rather be stuck with, lol
  8. that was only meth blue and furan. all new stock. I know... its confusing as. feel depressed every time i look at the tank, and all i see is carnage instead of the usual bustling life and happy fish.
  9. but there is no chemical to poison with. the tank is in the lounge, and the only reason it is used is to look at the fish
  10. thanks man... definitely looks like cloudy eye. but the water has no flukes... I took a sample of a few fish and checked for them. nothing visible under microscope. only this cloudy eye has progressed the fastest i have ever seen, its not supposed to eat the eye though. all my beautiful cories that i spent years collecting seem to be dead =(
  11. oh and did another water test at work and water is perfect! on a diagnostic side the fish look like they have tuberculosis and cloudy eye with some sort of bug that likes eating eyes!
  12. thanks everyone. dixon tank has been treated with meth blue, oxytetracycline, and furan 2. the temperature has been at a stable 29. moves by half a degree or so over a 24 hour period. the male angel fish got it initially. it looked exactly like cloudy eye - only i caught it really early. this morning, all of them except the fighter and the butterfly (pantadon) were covered in it. the angels eyes are now concave, as are the cories, etc. the clownies have the covering on the eye, so i upped the meds and did a water change, and put some more in. it looks disgusting in there. i feel real sorry for them.
  13. i know.. but they are cute, and their breath smells like coffee. lol. im a dog person. not a baby person. ha ha
  14. ooh! so it was you who took my goldie Mel! lol all good.. probably a good thing i dont have him at the moment.... hope he does well... they are one of my favourite fish! :bounce:
  15. nopes, no sprays allowed in the lounge (where this 4 ft is) or in my room where the nano, and the bird is. confusing huh?
  16. the slimy coating appears to be intact. if any thing, the fungus - if that's what it is is eating away the slime... and the eyes. if by slime you meant the white rot like fungus thing, then no it is not one large piece - its like its attacked the fish in different areas, where the coat may have worn down, if that makes any sense.
  17. hey adodge... that's the funny thing though. cleaned my filter out about 2 weeks ago.... replaced the ammocarb, and cleaned the sponges (fluval 405) but didnt change or clean the eheim bio media (substrate pro i think it is). tank was fine as... did a water test yesterday at work - everything was spot on.. pH was about 6.2 ish... (S.American tank). ammonia 0, nitrate, nitrite was good.. (new nitraban in the filter). phosphates are usually high in my tank, but not high enough to kill the fish - never had an algae problem in my life either. i feel like crap now. i hope the tank comes right... when it does i will sell all my tetras and those fish and just keep a few catfish in the tank. very disheartening. worse part was gollywog (BGK) dying, I hand fed him everyday. he used to swim in and out of my fingers, lol. i have work in about 2 hours so i will retest the water then... ive just never seen fish go blind like this. I thought it may have been TB or something but its so fast acting!
  18. why couldn't i have just got white spot or something instead? jeez....
  19. the show with the aquarium in it.... the house was what can be called a glass house, lol.. lotsa glass and huge windows.. i think it was in the scottish country, and the house was built partially over a lake or something like that. and the dude loved water, so he made this long, thin as tank and filled it with lake tan. cichlids. looked good but he put plastic plants in the tank, and that made me laugh... that and the tank was waaay too narrow... oh that and they only showed the tank for the best of 40 seconds or so during the entire hour long episode.
  20. well maybe not... All my fish worth mentioning are DEAD. All happened overnight. they are covered in this white film like fungus thing.... the eyes are covered in white stuff... looks like cloudy eye, only the cloudyness ate the eye away and has left a concave gap.... have treated with oxytetracycline, furan, and meth blue. so far the casualties are: (fatalities) 2 X BGK 1 red spot plec, 1 gold spot plec. 5 different types of cories... 2 of which ive had for more than 2.5 years. 6 serpae tetras (i think they introduced this evilness into my tank) god knows how many dozen glowlights black neons, congo tetras, and what have you.... did i mention my favourite cories? and the casualties, which im hoping will pull through are my 10 clown loaches whom ive had for about 2.5 years now.... all my bolivian rams, orange chromides, that butterfly pleco, gah... so many more.... my huge koi angels (now blind); the other plecos i had in there... very depressing ... but the worse thing is that this happened over night. i saw faint white coverings on the eyes yesterday and immediately medicated the entire 4ft densly planted tank(not easy to do, as i love the plants in there).... wake up this morning and well.... what can you do aye?
  21. yes i will not breed that fish either. lol. and im petrified of children.. all they do is cry and vomit and poo.... ugh. id rather have a puppy or 3.
  22. eggs hatch in 10 - 14 days! lol....i wouldn't breed them if that's how long it takes! that's ages!
  23. hey advertised for the show... not the episode loopholes in advertising methods aye... lol.. gotta love them...
  24. to be fair they never said that episode would be on... lol...
