they have a rock solid warranty (3years i think), and most retailers should just exchange the filter if they have it in stock - if there is something weird wrong with it. its a very trusted brand and rightfully so - go for the 3e's if you can part with that money. I still do like the FX5 though. hard to compare the two on a fair platform though.

you should be able to adjust the flow on the 3e to suit your tank size. and it has a "boost" function as the suppliers call it to supercharge your filtration.

guys you cannot compare a massive filter like an FX5 to a smaller filter like a 2213 or a 205. Its like comparing an aston martin to a trashy jap import. :lol: lol

the 3e is in a league of its own. the fluval 205 and the eheim 2224 - both have the same level of "murmur" i.e. almost inaudible. and if you do hear something there is either something wrong with the filter or you have freaky ears :lol: lol the eheim 2224 is the better filter of the 2 though... far better.

if you let me know what model of eheim and fluval you were looking at I can tell you which is more quiet. I'll just go into work and put em on and compare.

I've always got top notch service at HFF! I love the albany store - its so well kept and Ive always thought the ppl there were well informed. Cant comment on Mt.Roskill store, I too never crossed the bridge unless I had to.

put 2 big hand fulls of salt in your tank.i got heaps of clowns. salt will not kill them. just chuck some in the tank. they will play with it if they are any thing like mine. :lol:

that sounds very depressing. as long as you have good lighting and more filtration than needed you will be sweet, lol that and tonnes and tonnes of plants.

ive been at massey in p north for 3 years doing a double major in finance and international business, will come back next year for a 4th; and I also work at a pet shop and the national bank. also considering a triple major in management - should be cruisy as. will probably go bak to uni for a 5th year to do my honours

sorry to hear about the bird aye.. been keeping large parrots my whole life (got them when i was born) and i would hate to see any of them pass away. good on you for keeping the lille fella warm and safe for the time you had him.
