baby birds are awesome! :bounce: Congrats. if you dont want to hand rear them, best to leave the parents with the babies until the babies are old enough to leave the nest. if you do hand rear them (this is a very time consuming process if you rear them without the parents, babies need food every third hour or so ) use that kaytee baby hand rearing powder stuff - it is great for birds. its cheap and a small bottle should do, and it should cost the same as baby formula (although i dont know what that would cost). feed the parents good food cause they will need all the energy they can get.

our average power bill is 300 and a peak was $550 last winter. although our family did get an $800 power bill in auckland 5 years ago. Only 1 marine tank in the house at that stage, too lol.

yeah.... although they make fantastic pets, I think its sad that there is a wild population of them. they cause damage that's for sure... still wish i could have some.

I thought you were talking about the t5 HO lights not the ones that come with your juwel. so then there is nothing wrong with the light per say.. its just unfortunate that it is interfering with the reception of tv1. any one local will tell you that we have made mistakes with some tanks, lol. arowana + 6 pantadon butterfly's = sadness :evil: I was very upset.

Ohh.. now why didnt you say that in the first place :lol: :lol: :lol: ha ha but still i think 6 is fine.. but obviously a sudden change to 6 from what ever it may have been kept is bad. we keep different tanks in our shop (about 20 I think) any where from 5.6 for some, and some at 6, some at 7 and then some at 7.5 or so depending on the fish and tank.

you're more than welcome to come look at the tank and the jungle that is growing ha ha... i agree. its very cool. they can change colour to such an extent that they look like a completely different fish altogether. ill try getting more pics today if he comes out to play.

you tested the same water as in saxenas tank? and the shop he bought the fish from? how? he is in west akl. ive tested water in pet shops all over the country and still have to find a distinct correlation :lol:

It might be evil. but its still cute as lol. i love ferrets. used to play with them all the time. then they got "banned" and now I only get to play with the occasional old one. they have the cutest eyes, and twichy noses, and whiskers, and tongues. their teeth are evil. but they are still cute. send me babies mark ha ha. rusty will just get giggity gig with them, as he does other fluffy pets :lol: Navarre - I'm a he not a she or (s/he )

yep! that's your convict. peaceful and shy now. fins have all grown back and she is massive and fat on hikari. eats very well ha ha. Aqua - Ill give you a hundred bucks if you manage to catch any fish in the tank without changing the way the tank has been set up. Infact ill give you 200 if you can get mel's convict :lol: -ive spent hours with 6 nets in the tank to no avail (and im the fastest fish catcher you will ever see 8) just ask my customers at work :lol: :bounce: ) there are soooo many plants, in such a thick, dense network, and so many pieces of driftwood that its virtually impossible to catch any thing unless it jumps out of the tank (except the angels which are easy to catch cause they're dumb) :lol:

why are you unhappy with a pH of 6? it is a fair level for mollies and platies I would say. Thing with logarithmic scales is like what aqua said above - the concentration of H30+ ions in a solution of pH 7 is 10 times more than in pH 6 in test conditions.
