  2. shut up you. 20's rock. early twenties that is.

    What cory?

    schwartzi is my guess
  4. :bounce: welcome to the federation, oh "keen to learn one" :bounce: there is no escape now
  5. it would not cook all the way through if the water was not hot enough but yes, im sure he meant deg F, and not Celsius
  6. Holy moly mother of all grey hairs! this post is 5 years old! have you been planning on moving for 5 years?
  7. you have to use ferts to get nutrient. Re: the vodka bottle thing. - It does not go in the tank! it becomes a lamp. Although you just gave me a very good marketing idea.
  8. bristlenoses, cories (schwartzi are my fav). No idea, I don't do fish that eat precious plants
  9. ah. go for south american fish  8) apistos like cockatoos, steel blues, agazzis, panduros and borellii's are all awesome fish, and should be easily available through your LFS. Blue Rams are another cool one. dwarf flag cichlids grow a bit larger than all of them and would make a good centre piece fish. They are all peaceful and colourful - and will live happily with tetras like cardinals and rummy noses etc.
  10. a miniature tank like a nano tank? or a small-ish tank that you can put so many fish in? cause with all those fish, you will need a larger tank. (small for me is >60 L or so), nano is even smaller - usually has only a couple of fish like a couple of gobies and a siamese fighter. cardinals look nice.
  11. your plants will do well if you: 1.) have good nutrient in the soil for root feeders, 2.)have nutrient in the water for plants that use leaf absorbtion, and 3.) have the right spectrum of light for growing plants (in the right wattage). now you have to find out the Kelvin rating of your light. it should be on the tube, its the number and then a K symbol. eg. mine are 18000K, others can be 6500K, 10000K etc etc. :bounce: _____ those underwater lights are awesome, im currently trying to see if I can find anyone to drill a hole in a nice vodka bottle - at the base, so i can make it a lamp! lol
  12. If you are 100% sure its pop eye then treat with furan / Broad spectrum antibiotic for 10 days. filters need the carbon and similar removed, etc. here's a useful link you may like: http://www.fishyfarmacy.com/fish_diseases/eyes.html
  13. if its glazed, like the stuff you can eat off its usually ok (like plates). but what sort of pot is this?
  14. Are you sure its 240W ? is it a tube or a bulb?
  15. good. lol. least i can get more if i need it. but what i really need is a 3ft high tank.
  16. wonder where they got it from. what conditions do they keep it in. it must grow fast for them if they let me get 5 / 6 just for me. plus then there's all the other pet shops that must order it in....
  17. hmm... i imagined something 4 foot tall, about a foot in diameter, with lots of these at the roots  perfect centre piece.
  18. how big are we talking about?
  19. I think its much better. what sort of lighting do you have? and whats that white thing with the holes in it? I see you have an underwater light in there :bounce:
  20. lol. the yellow one supports the cancer society, and the pink one the IHC society.
  21. ha ha sure. but its incredibly slow growing. doesn't really branch out. just gives new leaves. you have to cut the root and wait for new leaves to come out well that's what I do any ways
  22. they get big. these are just about 2ft or so long at the moment. i usually hack off the stalks and let new leaves grow on. but someone from here wants some too, so i wont be hacking just as yet, lol.
  23. internationally. do about a trip a year. they have always been fine. occasionally sniff what i bring in, but have never been held up. could be a different matter posting them in though.
  24. if it is vacuum packed, and dry they usually are ok with stuff like that. I flew down with dried leaves etc, and customs were happy with it.
