  1. If I remember rightly, the Red Sea one is about $500, but it doesn't come with a CO2 cylinder - you'd have to get one of those through a gas cylinder company.
  2. foreground is lilaeopsis brasiliensis, thick stuff is indian fern (I love it!)
  3. this is the full tank shot.... the male hangs out inside the driftwood in the corner.
  4. not the best shot...they are devilish to shoot in a planted tank lol
  5. Looked at the tank this evening and noticed a little guy on the front glass. When I post some pix, you'll see why I didn't realise they'd bred sooner cos of all the driftwood. I hadn't seen my male for a while so I was suspicious...but seeing little guys still is exciting!! e
  6. I do remember seeing it at animates as a marginal pond plant as well. came in a basket. can't recall the name though. (useless! i know )
  7. I've had this before. But it died for no apparent reason (tho at the time I didn't have t5 lighting, CO2 or flourite so that may not have helped ).... its leaves were very elliptical compared to the barteri variety. and a lighter green in colour. It did grow a few new leaves after its initial ones fell off and rotted, but they were very small. hope it goes well for you!
  8. I just drop them in raw, they last longer and don't pollute the water as much.
  9. Cool. Yeah, I got five royals the other day. found out their favourite foods - pumpkin and carrot!
  10. or if you wanna go cheapo and your tank is shallow enough a simple straw used as a dip tube will do!
  11. I know they like lettuce, courgette, cucumber but what other things do they like that people know about? carrot? pumpkin? broccoli stalk? thanks in advance
  12. haha PM'D about PMDD
  13. For what you've got, maybe leafzone for iron and potassium, then a trace mixture like Flora24 or Seachem trace or PMDD. then a carbon source like CO2 or Flourish excel.
  14. You could go for rotala macranda...that's kinda pinky goldy red, and if your light isn't quite bright enough it just stays a kinda goldy green. though apart from lots of light, red plants also need a lot of iron and really thrive with CO2. Or if you want heaps of colour maybe go for the artificial, neon blue silk milfoil on TM   Or you could get some crypts, go for the nice rich earthy colours , and they're low light as well.
  15. wooops just remembered you posted a separate topic on this... You could maybe try adding daily trace elements. Red Sea Flora24 or Seachem's trace would probably work - the Seachem one is the least expensive of the two per 100mL and says to use it only twice a week, while the other is daily and only requires i think 1 drop per 50L.
