  1. Ill try putting more pics up, but getting him in the frame without a million fish crowding around the camera is sooo hard Ill try again after work today. :bounce:
  2. thanks. i was hoping you would see this. the pics above are all the same fish. he loves his drift wood and gets to eat (well that's what i put in the tank) that tetra sinking tablet, hikari sinking tablet, and hikari massivore. lots of current in the tank, lots of powerful filtration. ive had him for a few months now but have never seen him eat specifically. he just grazes on the wood from what I have seen. I really want more of them. they are such a cool looking fish. :bounce:
  3. I think I have a male, and I want a female so I can try to breed them. Such an awesome fish to have must be shared! can someone please confirm if this is a male / female? Has anyone else bred them? Any one have the opposite sex to what I have?
  4. hmm. that is a very interesting point. I too would have thought that a "pair" of fighters sold as they are; are in fact a compatible pair and not just a male and a random female of the same type. they come from the wholesalers as pairs, so it would be quite upsetting if they were not.
  5. you could get a debit card if your bank supports that facility. or get a credit card - use it wisely, so it works to save you money
  6. oh wow... I haven't seen the white ones before. I think they look pretty cool too.
  7. gah! you beat me to it ha ha lol  the errors are so small that it wont make a difference to what you need the calculations for
  8. sorry not in wellington. But there are the massey uni wildlife vets here in palmy. so if you had to its not that long a drive up here. Ive sent a BD to them before.
  9. the bright red beak goes black for a while.. just the tips of it. he seems to LOVE it though.
  10. got any thing sharp in the tank?
  11. they are an awesome fish indeed. :bounce: are there different colour types, cause mine were never that bright yellow.. butwere darker as in the pic. is it just breeding or a different strain or something?
  12. A juwel then? but yeah, I prefer getting everything separately too cause then its fully customisable. juwel tanks would be awesome if they came with an external filter.
  13. you can train them to be nice about it. i have no piercings at all but rusty licks earrings and piercings instead of ripping them out. however he does remove the butterfly quite artfully  not sure how you can train them not to bite it off, perhaps if there was a way to show him it was part of you? or let him do it to see how much force he is using? PS (mark) is it ok for them to eat banana skins? cause rusty devours them and then gets a black beak
  14. Thanks. I do, I'll PM a few pics to you. it was a very "n00b" like tank lol.
  15. This is one of my strains, before I gave my yellows away. Not as nice as yours smidey.
  16. oh cool. so an exchange is going to happen then. I was going to organise it if i could if there was a problem. changing the bulbs too should not be too much of an issue.
  17. yeah. why aren't they doing an exchange?
  18. put carbon in your filter. i hate that colour too. but carbon does the trick. remember to change the carbon every month - 6 weeks. the colour does no harm at all though. I just dislike the colour.
  19. ok.. so i work in a pet shop right.. (occasionally when the mood calls for it). lol so say i order a gold nugget cause I want one, I do so by looking at a piece of paper that i get from suppliers, and i choose the fish i want. then i fax that away and a few days later presto! mr. fish arrives. not everyone can tell the difference between the types of gold nuggets... its quite hard AFAIK. and there is no guarantee that the fish that comes in is 100% a gold nugget. could be something else - a different L number, and its not necessarily the shops fault or the "fish guys" fault or even the wholesalersfault. at the end of the day it is what it was sold as in the beginning. some suppliers use L numbers, but these can too be wrong. catch 22
  20. ah. sweet. lots of stores sell gold nuggets, cause the fish are purchased as gold nuggets - and they turn out to be something else. I'd say take a pic of the fish and post it here before you get it, cause some of the "gold nuggets" as they are called get quite large, while others stay small. it would be easier to use L numbers but then it would make no sense to someone who wanted to know what that gold spotted sucky fish was, lol.
  21. lol. that's sad. but if he is being good u dont need a clicker. with all luck he will be good all the time. ha ha
