  1. My tank was 225L. As the discus grew bigger I moved them on as they started looking out of proportion. I'm sure they are happier now.
  2. Hmm.. Yeah I think I can fix the tank. Few alterations here and there should do it.
  3. Jingos! I want an Oscar real real real bad, but would never get one if I couldn't cater for it as its needs changed! They grow so fast, and are such majestic fish when kept in an adequately large tank.
  4. Jeepers.. The pay's pretty terrible!
  5. Yeah, I agree. I absolutely loved the first layout with all those plants in it but I just don't have the time any more. Maybe one day the enthusiasm I once had will be renewed and I'll do another tank from scratch.
  6. Got a few varieties of Crypts, Narrow leaf Java fern, some mutant fern apparently - narrow leaf x windelov?, windelov, e. barthii, Leopard sword, star grass and some R. rotundifolia floating.
  7. I love how you used brightly coloured discus. I also think your dog is cool!
  8. :sml1: But really you just need to go to the bodyshop and get tea tree face-wash.
  9. I take off all the green leaves because when the mature they go from purple / black to red and then green. High light I think is the only other thing. Powerglos bring out red in plants too. They are excellent lights. I stopped all ferts a month ago as well because I started messing around too much and got BBA that took months to battle without chemicals. After ages the flower stalk produced a tiny pup. Only has one bright red leaf at the moment. It's even redder than the mother plant because it's about 3 cm away from the light hood. :slfg:
  10. It's sword is E. barthi. I don't normally have the marine blue on. It was only for taking the pics. It stimulates plants to start flowering but a good plant tube has all the spectra needed for optimal growth and flowering response.
  11. Took some pics a few minutes ago with no flash and one set of T5 HOs on the tank with a dull pink plant pro T8 and a marine blue T8.
  12. You could use those chillies! It goes real well with a proper Indian curry (only need a tiny amount though). Can you get it in powdered form?
  13. Stupid Killifish. Didn't jump out all this time until I remembered that Killies jump - put a lid on the tank and sure enough, it found the smallest gap and jumped.
  14. Good lord. Don't ask her to learn martial arts! Joe, more kids need to do PE at school. We can't have generations of future kiwis getting fatter and lazier (we're already getting more and more unhealthy!) because the cost of healthcare can cripple the economy. If some of the kids like the PE they may grow up and be more active and healthy as a result. My first car ever (in my own name) was a 1994 Toyota Camry Lumiere. That was in 2003! Man I feel old.
  15. Probably not. :slfg: Mad cow and all..

    Id please

    They are your normal bristlenose.
  17. This guy has lots of males and a few females. He breeds them regularly. Pity peat is so messy.
  18. They usually have a check list of things that would make you ineligible for donating blood. From memory anitbiotic usage, you can't have a cold, flu, infection etc. If you have a tattoo there is like a 6 month stand down. Can't have lived in the major mad cow countries between 1980 and 96? Can't donate if you have sex with a same sex partner / whatever - 5 year stand down?
