  1. Everything I can find says Ruby shark is one of the common names for what is normally called Rainbow shark here: Epalzeorhynchos frenatum Yeah, they're on the import list, they're pretty common.
  2. Average fish price is around $150, water changes with ASW will cost maybe $20, plan on spending $2000 at least on hardware... Wait, you wanted me to convince you TO switch?
  3. "NZ's oldest pakeha monument stolen, police have no leads."
  4. Had an S13 silvia and an S14 200SX. Sold the S13 a year or so ago.
  5. Baby cichlids? You mean Noms? In general ANY fish will try to eat any fry that doesn't get away before it gets eaten. Just some fish aren't as aggressive about chasing them down.
  6. Yeah, if you're me it takes like 2 hours. If you know what you're doing, maybe 20 minutes.
  7. Are they small fish small enough to fit in its mouth? If yes then they will most likely be eaten.
  8. How long have you had it? 3-4 years between battery replacements isn't unusual, especially if you're the type to frequently drain the battery.
  9. That's pathetic. My twin engine electric goes up.
  10. I had my Silvia for almost 10 years and only replaced a fuel pump and clutch master cylinder on it, Grand total of about $200 in repairs. 200SX for even longer, just the fuel pump replaced. Might be little annoying things or wear items(Batteries, brake pads etc don't count) that cause problems, but rarely anything that actually takes it off the road.
  11. 100 kph is pretty slow for a high end glider, especially once you get into slope soaring. World record is in the region of 500+ KPH. Here we go, this guy claims 750 KPH. Fast enough you can't see much on the camera beyond the occasional flicker.
  12. Prune the plants when they grow too much, pull the shed bits of plants off the filter intakes, prune the plants when they grow too much, remove the old ugly leggy looking plants, prune the plants when they grow too much, vacuum up all the rubbish from the plants they've caught between their leaves, prune the plants when they grow too much, adjust the fertilizers, prune the plants when they grow too much, do a water change, prune the plants when they grow too much, pick off leaves that have gotten covered with algae, prune the plants when they grow too much, pluck all the plants that have grown from runners in the wrong spots, prune the plants when they grow too much. Now on to week two...
  13. Looks extremely cramped and high maintenance.
  14. Nope...Actually lately I don't fly anything. Haven't gotten out to fly in ages. Lots of slopies in the club though.
  15. Nope, I haven't flown in maidstone park. The wellington model aircraft club flies in Te Whiti park on Tuesdays over the summer though, and Seddon Range year round on sundays.
  16. Best product to remove ammonia is a product called water. It's inexpensive and available in large volumes. Dose at 30-50% every few days until the tank cycles. :slfg:
  17. Hehe, What to expect pricewise can vary HUGELY depending on what you want and where you buy. But $300 or so can get you the absolute basics.
  18. A guppy maybe, or a betta. Would go well on my desk here at work.
  19. 100cc corsair will be more like an 8th or 9th plane. You'll need certified by the NZMAA for a giant scale plane like that, I believe.
  20. First time plane? Something like a GWS slow stick or Multiplex easystar would be your best bet. You'll want to find your local club and see if you can get someone to help you get it set up, trimmed and a bit of training. Next step depends on if you wanting to go with glow or electric.
  21. No, he would mind. You know you'd hear as he's washed away, "OH, SONOFABI...blubblublub
  22. You could go with something like Severums. I think they breed relatively easy. They're good fish.
  23. Abuse the priviledge, you'll become a mod. :slfg:
  24. So far I've gone through 5 sets of plants in the last few months and managed to only get one of them to grow. Something sword I think. I think most were aquatic and were actually labeled, but can't remember what. Stupid dying plants.
