  1. They're good, I've been running 2-3 for the last 5+ years. Never had a problem with them. CF1200s are the filter I always suggest when someone asks what filter to get.
  2. Just a note, about the 3000lph, I like a lot of current in a tank. Many people complain about their fish being blown around when they put a filter rated at even 1000lph into a tank that size.
  3. Put it in, plug it in, move it around until you like the current. Angels, discus and bettas don't seem to like them because they're wimpy swimming fish that can't handle a gentle current. A powerhead around the 3000lph range would probably be good for that size, give you a nice current.

    wather from rain

The miniscule traces of copper you'll get from copper piping will be harmless unless you have a marine tank or are trying to keep snails or other invertebrates. Fish are not sensitive enough to it to worry.

But for most fish it's perfectly fine. For the common fish you listed, it's good.
  6. The test kits don't test for chlorine, that's the most likely thing they would have done is just treat it with a large dose of chlorine. Wait, you said in your original post, "After a couple weeks..." and now you're saying 6 months?
  7. Does soynd like ammonia build up from not cycling. But just guessing without reliable tests. Still solution is probably water changes followed by more water changes. But get some test kits.
  8. Heh, good excuse to try out the like button. People should control their animals, not let them roam and kill whatever they feel like.
  9. Oh, cool, my signature has appeared, I thought I'd have to go set it again from a quick scan of above.
  10. My eyesight is fine(When wearing my glasses) and I still have a hard time telling too.
  11. I'd have liked to see the pics...:(
  12. Ah, how did the board mutilate my post like that. Anyway, "Got a pump, extension cord and some hose?" I do most of my water changes using a pond pump.
  13. What chemical? How? Do you have a trailer or something that could carry large barrels? or a 1000L container? Otherwise you're going to have to go with 20L ones, that's going to be piles of them. Somewhere like Plastic box or similar if you can't find someone selling them on Trademe.

  15. Because they're insane is the only reason I can think of.
  16. Wade in, yank it out. That small of a pond other controls like grass carp probably aren't going to be worth it. Maybe draining it and then cleaning it out thoroughly depending on the construction might work.

    Sera food

So, what's the consensus on Sera brand food? Bought some Sera Tropical Granules today, never tried them before and was thinking I can't remember ever hearing any mention of them before.(But I've been senile since about 1st grades so not necessarily conclusive)
  18. That looks like just a standard african tank, what makes it a faux marine?
  19. Wish I'd bought stock in Aquaone...
  20. Given how many things fluoresce I'm more surprised that this is the only turtle that fluoresces. Shine a uv torch like they're using into an average marine tank and just about everything fluoresces. Wander around your house, all kinds of stuff does. Everyone seems to be reading this as bioluminescence, but it is not producing light. It's just fluourescing under UV.
  21. Might have been good advice if given within a few hours, but you're 6 months late...
  22. Probably insured, took the payout and bailed?
