  1. I think you'd have to put that through a hollywood style image enhancement program to make that a very poor picture.
  2. Having done 10K and 16K I think I prefer the 10K. Look much more brighter and doesn't look as washed out, more reds too.
  3. I used to collect from the turnoff in Pukerua bay, Pies and Suphew get it from Titahi bay.
  4. I'd go with 10mm just because then you KNOW it's strong. And 10mm in the size you're going to want isn't going to be too much more.

    HELP flat worms???

Know, I don't no what's in it. The only person that nos, I guess is the Salifert owner, I forget his name. But he's said, "Know, I'm not telling, I don't want anyone else to no what's in it.
  6. *Checks yearbook for Caryl's address and ferry prices* When's your next shipment supposed to arri...Errr, I mean you're lucky! If someone did steal them I seriously doubt they knew it was fish. Probably just grabbed it hoping it was something easy to sell quick, but goldfish they'll probably figure is just garbage. Probably been tossed in a ditch somewhere or kicked around for a little fun then tossed in a ditch.

    HELP flat worms???

Yeah, back when I dosed the first time my tank was absolutely overrun with hair algae and cyano. Like an inch thick on EVERY surface. Could sit there grabbing full handfulls all day. Dosed with FWE and in a week or so the algae was all totally gone. Seems like too much of a coincidence.

    HELP flat worms???

I've had waves of flatworms. Kill them off, they come back, kill them, they come back, kill them, they come back. They were starting to build up again until my tank crashed and I think that wiped out a lot of them. I can't find any anymore at least.
  9. Even worse! They're bleached! They'll throw off the chlorine ionic balance of the tank!
  10. Zuchinni and spinach.

    baking soda

That's not the definition most people use...Must be a reefer thing that a dime a dozen means expensive.
  12. Or it shows that most houses in NZ are in a country where "Most winters are humid is crap"
  13. Yeah, wet towels should work. They won't dry out(Obviously) and would be pretty well protected from sliding around and bumping into things. Most can handle a reasonable amount of time out of the water fine. Now, who is going to start the argument about phosphates in the laundry soap?

    fish loss

Over the last year? Ummm, Bought 3, lost 0. Over the life of my tank I've bought 9 lost 4. A yellow tang that never ate, a LMB that wouldn't eat once the algae was gone, a sebae clown that just died suddenly for no discernable reason and a firefish that I literally lost, never saw a corpse. Let's not discuss the corals.

    APF600 feed pump

Yeah, definitely go with the bigger one. You can always restrict a bigger pump(I think they usually use less power too when restricted) but you can't supercharge a smaller pump.

    what is this?

Like this...(Ignore the name, I haven't gotten around to correcting it)

    what is this?

Yeah, they are cool. Spit out a big web net to catch food and then haul it back in, shut the hatch on the end of the tube and have dinner.

    what is this?

It's a vermatid snail. Not a tubeworm. They're interesting little snails.
  19. Yeah, Caryl's drunken table dancing during the dinner tonight made heaps of noise...
  20. Double glazed windows do pay for themselves, but it'll be a while. Still, I wouldn't build a house without them. Be nice to have a really good heat exchanger with all the air going through that too, so you can ventilate the house without losing any of that expensive heat in the air.
  21. I cut my evaporation down something like 50% by putting the glass lids back on my tank over winter. Goes from about 5-7 liters a day to 2-3

    Ca,KH, and Mg Calc

No, it's not rocket science to test the levels, dump in a known amount wait and then retest. But at the moment I just haven't bothered to retest to figure out how many ppm say 100 grams of X chemical effects the tests in my tank. I just plug the numbers into the calculator and dump in what it says. This week I will though.
  23. The expression on their faces being... :0 :0 :0 heheh
  24. In a closed system like a non leaking pond rainwater will not add any freshwater, not in the sense of a water change. It'll just be topping up the evaporation. Nothing will actually be removed. Blenheim is pretty dry, so I don't like the idea of continuously replacing the leackage unless it's a relatively small amount. I'd be inclined to say, "It's not leaking down 6cm! It's just been overfilled!"
