  1. The PAR is usually higher with lower kelvin too. And that's irrespective of the subjective color difference making one appear brighter.

    TDS

If it's putting out those numbers I'd guess it's in percent or something, not ppm like the ones usually used.
  3. I've several times had dreams of my fish in hamster balls rolling around the house.:Þ
  4. I'd say he has a larger actual area than my tank, a lot larger since he doesn't have overflow teeth. Mine has a 5000 something LPH pump. So he should be fine.
  5. I think, pricewise, you're better off going with a rectangular tunnel made of flat pieces of acrylic or glass. Going to be MUCH cheaper. Not quite as nice looking but what's nicer looking for the same price? A great looking cylindrical tube or a not so nice looking rectangular tube with $300 taped to it.?
  6. Come out to the courtyard and see the new po*SPLASH*....Oh...Guess you were right, there isn't enough room. :bounce:

    Green Water

I think it's overkill in this case. All of the algae that makes the water green would be waterborne. The only bits that would be left is in any droplets of water on the plants. Give them a rinse under the tap, that'll be good enough. But even then, you can't totally eliminate them from the water, you limit the algae by starving it of what it needs to grow.

    hello

Although, looking at this picture they look pretty similar. All the pics I'd seen other than these made majanos look pretty small and very short...

    hello

Yeah, I doubt they're majanos too. I'd like one, if they're not.

    MH replacement bits

They need replaced either way, so...

    MH replacement bits

How much do you want for them, anyway? I hope the metal clips inside them are in good shape, those are the bits I actually need, the rest is in good shape. They're all buggered from me trying to shove the bulbs in against their will.

    MH replacement bits

Yeah, sort of like that, not exactly though. Assuming those screws are in the same spot they should work, I'd imagine. Ugh, Tilted the pendant to check if the holders looked the same and the bulb that wasn't lighting lit. Well, at least it's going, but hope it doesn't mean there's something internal loose.
  13. Looks like it's time to replace my MH bulbs and I think I need to replace the bulb holders at the same time. It's an Arcadia Professional deluxe 2X250w DE pendant. I've totally bent the metal connectors out of shape. Anyone know if they're standard parts I can get easily? Ugh, don't wanna spend money on the lights right now.

    the ''tingle''

I need to find a fancy one that doesn't reset in a powercut AND doesn't reset when I turn the lights off and on manually AND doesn't reset when I turn the return pump off...

    flatworms

I've dosed my tank something like 5-6 times total. Never seems to get them all. Bloody Pies giving me an STD! (Softcoralfrag Transmitted Disease)

    the ''tingle''

All tanks will have it. The strength depends on how many devices are in the tank, what type they are are factors in the strength. Things like how well grounded you are standing in front of the tank, if you happen to have any scratches or similar or thin skin that is the factor in whether you feel it or not. My tank I normally don't feel anything. If I've happened to have scratched my finger recently it's noticable. Don't think you have it? Try attacking your hand with a cheese grater and put it in the water.

    the ''tingle''

Actually, slappers...It's not exactly something you can totally eliminate. It's not due to a fault anywhere. It's due to the natural properties of electricity flowing through a wire. It creates a magnetic field around the wire which then creates an electrical flow through any conductive materials within the field. (Warren will probably correct the specifics but that's the basics) The only way to do it would be big heavy magnetic shielding around any equipment and wires in the tank. Too impractical.

    Tip

Salt mix does the same. And IIRC those little containers of dehumidifier mix(They've got a hippo or something on the ads) are calcium chloride. Very hydrophilic stuff, I guess.
  19. heh, Yeah, ANOTHER powerpoint? Ugh, my tank doesn't have that much and it's already using up 12 powerpoints! Give or take a few.

    Green Water

Guppies are dirty fish. And the easiest way I've found to get rid of green water is to filter it out. Put some filter wool packed tightly over the intake of your filter or a powerhead or whatever and it usually, for me at least, filters the algae out of the water just fine. You just need to clean the wool in the sink a couple times a day for the first few days. Cleaned up a tank I had that was so murky green you couldn't see more than 2" into it to crystal clear in about 2 days.
  22. Yeah, they do actually feed the anemone. And if they're not hosting in an anemone they'll happily feed powerheads, rocks, heaters and clumps of algae too.

    Green Water

the 75 guppies would be your reason. And the tap water probably has lots of gunk in it.
  24. Usually low flow means it's time to clean it. Worn impellers seem to have little effect on the flow.
