  1. It doesn't diffuse that fast. It diffuses basically at the same speed as the water currents. If the current is 5mph then it's going to diffuse at 5mph and take the shark that's a mile away 12 minutes to smell it.
  2. At the risk of continuing a dead thread...I can't imagine many things that actually matter less than what company makes your plastic tube connected to a hose.
  3. Why not? There are hundreds of thousands of pet people running around NZ, we even have pet training centers for them, government programs to give money out to keep them, free veterinary care for them, companies are even required to give their employees like 6 months paid leave when they first get their pet!
  4. Have YOU ever put on a blindfold, tied your hands behind your back and tried to find your dinner? To make it more realistic, put a couple fans blowing around in the room.
  5. What size tank are they in? You could get a big pond pump, put it in one of the back corners pointing the length of the tank and it will get the whole tank swirling around. They'd probably like it.
  6. And yes, still have the rock.
  7. Yes, they'll be perfectly fine.
  8. AFAIK you're allowed to keep anything as a pet that's not a protected species or a pest that MAF wants destroyed.

    lumps on goldfish?

Might be a tumor. Which in goldfish speak means maybe it's a Lionhead?
  10. I've just been given a thingy. Is it any good? We might be able to help if you actually gave us some information.
  11. That would take up a huge amount of tank space.
  12. It's funny that people get so upset about how horrible and unethical these hideously deformed inbred mutants are, but not about the other hideously deformed inbred mutants known as goldfish. So, you've discovered a way to genetically engineer an animal using less than a jar, some dye and a net?
  13. Torrentfish tend to do that after a while, once the seeders/leechers ratio improves.
  14. Hose it off, throw it in the tank.
  15. Fish tanks are full of bacteria. The fish are basically swimming around in a pool of their own diluted poop. It's like an alligator in a sewer worrying about germs on a sanitation department employee just before it drags him into the sewage and eats him.
  16. Well, that makes you one of maybe 2 employers that pay as much as they can. The rest pay as little as they can get away with.

    Pond Filter

Yup on both. But if the filter is in the pond it doesn't matter if it leaks so you can have the pump pushing water through the filter and let it leak.

    HPS ballast

Now, is it a high pressure sodium ballast or is an HPS ballast? Because, one of my metal halide ballasts IIRC is manufactured by HPS.

    Pond Filter

No, suppose you could do that. You'll just want a big strainer on the intake in the pond, because it will get clogged up otherwise. Oh, and you don't want the pump before the filter if it's going to be outside of the pond. You'll be pressurising the container you're putting the media in...Which means given the likely very questionable sealing of the container it is going to leak all over the place.
  20. I think anything with a 6 week or 6 year old is a bad idea.
  21. Pick the tank up, turn in 90°, put it back down. See if they still go to the corner closest to you.
