  1. By golden labs I'm guessing you mean golden retreivers, not yellow labs? Neither of which is an albino any more than a blond human is albino.
  2. If it takes two of you to take a fluval apart you're doing something SERIOUSLY wrong. Unless it's one of the round ones, those turn to clip together media containers are a BITCH to pull apart.
  3. 95% of leaks are due to user error. All of mine have been either my fault for not closing the lid properly, not tightening a hose or force feeding the fluval with a powerhead because the pump is dead which causes the top to pop off. I have two Aquaone CF1200s, only been running them for a couple months. But I like the way they're set up much better than the eheim 2213 I had and fluval 300 series and 400 series. And at $140 from petplanet they're something like half the price of an equivalent fluval and 1/4 the price of an eheim.
  4. You don't take the male out. You put the female in then take her out after they've done their thing.
  5. Too much of a chore, too much expense, too much time, too little return.
  6. You'd probably be better off taking a new pic of the light instead of trying to photoshop that monkey thing out of it.
  7. I've never owned a goldfish. But all my other fish are surviving quite happily.

    Pond Filter

At the moment, if I ever get my pond built, I'm not planning on a filter. Need to find out how much it's going to cost to build it out of concrete...I don't have enough bricks to make 30 meters of a two brick thick 1-6 brick high wall.
  9. Decommissioned and started selling it.
  10. You should be doing water changes often enough that the drop in water level won't be particularly noticable anyway. Unless you've got a fan blowing across the top of an open tank it shouldn't be losing more than about half an inch a week or so.
  11. It's not the same composition, but the only reason it's changed is because normal superglue causes irritation. Once it's fully cured, I believe it's perfectly fine. And if it doesn't cause any problem in marine tanks used directly on corals and mushrooms, I'm sure it's going to be fine to use it on a filter.
  12. Whose eggs are these? Found outside under a pot. They're a bit smaller than your average pea, dry, soft and rubbery, not sticky. I'm guessing slug eggs?

    Smelly tank

Sounds to me like you've got the normal fish tank smell.
  14. My job is to copy stuff from one box to another and push buttons on the box. Oh and sometimes to put boxes into boxes. Speaking of which, we might be looking for a new person to join the team, must be attractive and female...
  15. Most animals like that are called invasive pests....
  16. I think probably almost all fish can. Maybe not those gold fish with the massive deformed bubble eyes... But I agree, Bala sharks probably aren't smart enough to.
  17. Taste and smell aren't totally seperate senses in us air breathers either...
  18. Self starters are garbage. Suck on it like a man!
  19. Yeah, I've found two of the 3 fish clubs I've gone to meetings of to have a good range of ages, mostly teens- mid 40s. The third Wellington club appeared to have an age range of high 50s and up, I think I was about half the age of the next youngest person there... You want to find clubs that have a consistently high average age you need to try radio controlled plane clubs. The average age of NZMAA members is 56 last I heard.
  20. Heh, just looked at the link. There you go, one part per million.
  21. To begin with, I doubt that 1 mile away is a number given by a scientist. It was probably from a reporter. And of course, reporters are basically idiots. If a scientist was giving the number it would likely be something like, "Sharks can smell blood at a concentration of 1 part per billion." or similar.
