  1. No, it wasn't really clear. "Based on google results." doesn't really mean anything. I can find results that say sleeping under a triangle will cure cancer and raise your IQ. The only reason I knew of was to essentially fertilize bacteria, but you seemed shocked to find out that's what it did.
  2. So...Why did you think you were adding the vodka?
  3. They did not choose to be hatched, they did not choose to be put into tanks, they did not choose and don't care about much anything past, "LOOK FOOD!" That would be if they had the brainpower to form the thought rather than just react by swimming closer to it with their mouth open.
  4. I'm going to enter the competition. I'll fill up a tank with female guppies then make male guppies pay me $50 to put them in for half an hour.
  5. Might convince me to buy an angel. In fact, I'll take 4.
  6. They are rarely made of safety glass. You can't cut it to make the tank with so it would have to be specially made in the size you want. Some commercially mass produced tanks are because they have the volume to get the glass made rather than just expensive one off runs.
  7. Enough of a gap for any hoses, wires etc to pass down behind it.
  8. Yeah, if you can find the right color temp it should work ok. But then you're still talking similar lumens per watt as an average T8 fluoro. That one's 54 watts, T8s are in the 50-80 range. So you'd need 8 of them to match the light output of a single 4 foot fluoro tube with a good reflector. At least 16 or so for a 200l 4 foot tank. So that's $640 before fittings to match a $50 4 ft dual fluoro. Now, the need for a good reflector for the fluoro bumps it back towards the leds a little...But not much.
  9. Cancel and run, there's still hope!
  10. $25 off? Wow. Maybe I'll go pick up a couple. I haven't had a test kit in about 5-6 years.
  11. Definitely violates TM rules. I also think it wouldn't be hard any more expense for them to just get another one for you.
  12. Yeah, the tubes are all about 1.5cm in diameter. That's what the T5 means. Tubular-5 eighths inch diameter. If it was another size it wouldn't be a T5.
  13. That should work. You could probably even just cut a single one in half if you have a chainsaw and can rig up some way of making a straight cut.
  14. Looks like they're all very young tiny fish though. Haha, they won't be able to even move in 2-3 months.

    Snails?!?

My plan is always to soak them in a bucket of snail rid over night, then give them a good rinse before putting in the tank.
  16. 2 inches thick, 6 feet long is easy. How wide do you need it though? A macrocarpa sleeper won't be too hard to get.

    Snails?!?

Could they have? Hahahaha, Yes. Have you never looked at an animates plant tank? They're always crawling with snails.
  18. I dunno, I've been bit by one of my brazillian puffers. They have hard teeth, unlike most small fish. I wouldn't say it hurt exactly, but it definitely got my attention.
  19. Created by wearing a woolen hat thus creating another way to transfer them from one person to another.
  20. I think it's unlikely that weather has a significant effect on them given that they live on nice warm heads and not in the environment.

    Lego fish tank!

    This in a tank....
  22. Yellowpages.co.nz lists 147 results for a search for landscaping suppliers. Maybe you could visit a few near you?
  23. Seems the only possible way. Because otherwise there's no way you'd get more than 1 per cocoon.
