  1. I found with the parrot I had when it was young it was like your's. I feed it blood worms once or twice a week by hand and then every time I went to the tank it was up at the glass wanting food. Also if you get other fish remember that anything that will fit in its mouth will become food. You could try getting more cover from tall plants like a tiger lotus and give them a few caves to hid in which mite make them feel safer and then not so jumpy
  2. after soaking the drift wood for 3 weeks and still not sinking i decided to tie some tiles to it i have also added some more plants.

It's the getting them sent to the south island that makes it expensive for one fish. I think Redwoods might be getting some in their next shipment so will try and get one or a pair

I'm not at the moment but am looking for a male trifasciata to replace my one that died and then hopefully I can get some fry
  5. I have just re scaped my tank and have a heap of affinis that I'm going to throw out if no one wants it. Must pick up in the next couple of days
  6. I am about to re do my tank and am trying to decide what substrate to use. I like the look of a red colour and am currently trying to decide between manado and flourite but am wanting to know if anyone has used both and has a preference. I have googled and have found the manado can be quite hard to plant in. I also would like to have a look at flourite when its wet so either photos or if some one in christchurch has a tank set up that i can have a look at any advise would be great
  7. Very little natural light get's on mine. It seams the less I do to the tank the better it grows. No ferts or co2 I did however start with some aquatic mix under the gravel and just standard juwel t5 lights
  8. Yes they seam to be a redish colour It seams to be growing like a weed in my tank are you having the same issue

Can anyone tell me what this is and what to treat it with. i noticed him rubbing last night but couldn't see and problems. so put so tonic salt in tank to be safe. when i got home tonight have noticed the white things coming out around its head. i have had a similar problem with this fish but that appeared all over its body but was more like a slime coat issue and cleared up in a few hours after a water change. any help would be great
