Just don't compare the lumens/watt for your led lighting fixture to good fluoros then look at the price. Even worse compare them to a metal halide. The original Solaris LED fixtures which are a couple years old now were getting somewhere around 20 lumens/watt compared to metal halides at about 80 while cost 4-5 times the price. So about 1/16th the bang for the buck. LEDs have improved a lot in the last 2-3 years, but they still suck for bang for the buck.

Buy a watt meter, put it on the tank for a couple days and find out how much power it's actually using. Get some real data rather than wild guesses.

The same can be said about my Aquaone CF1200s, except I saved about $1200 on the 3 of them vs eheims.

As far as marine pests go, within the margin of error of any survey...All of them. Now, freshwater pests the aquarium(And pond) hobby can be blamed for a lot of them, like koi and goldfish. Along with the fishing hobbyists for pests like trout... -
