  1. Pool filter sand is quite coarse, its what I use. definitely rinse it before use, once it runs clear it will settle straight away. I have stripped my tanks down several times using the rubbish bin method and never had any losses, try to keep 50% (min 30%)of the water and you'll be sweet as. GLuck
  2. Who were the winners? Anyone care to enlighten those of us who sent fish down?
  3. Swim bladder infection at a guess, no cure that I know of, can live like that for ages. Neons don't live long they are a seasonal fish in the wild, maybe old age?
  4. You could try buffering the water by adding a couple of shells, it will increase the hardness a little but shouldnt raise the PH too high unless you throw in a couple of handfulls.
  5. Polyurethane is toxic. paint it with a clear coat of epoxy to seal it. If it was me id get some nice dense polystyrene, carve it to the desired shape coat it with epoxy with a really fine glass fibre mixed in (i think its called filler) then disolve the poly out using acetone. Viola hollow epoxy shipwreck. dremel holes where required for fishy entry. paint then clear coat, easy....on paper anyway.
  6. Drill a hole in the top, if it is condensation, it will equalise the pressure an u wont get buildup
  7. Go marine and get a seamonkey 8)
  8. Bloody Gorami's bit the bud off  Am hoping for a new flower spike on the other one and I'll put a cage around it
