  2. I know nothing at all about these but find that a greater percentage of good eggs comes with age Im getting eggs from the Ameiti that I recieved a few weeks back but dont expect to get good numbers and a great percentage of good eggs for another 6 months. It may well be that time will help you
  3. Zev is the main breeder of those here in NZ I keep a lot of the Annulatus And about 20 other specie
  4. Personal experiance has me with totally different thoughts The ones I kept, fed amond nuts to and they would open them
  5. wont be long and you will find fry amoungst the floating plants Certianly one of the easiest Killis to breed Do you keep any other Killis
  6. hook beaks need grains that they can peal so a parrot mix will work They will in general stay in the same area so if food is available they will stay in the same km or so They do compete with our native birds and those that are already here so be aware of that. From memory, the North Shore had quite a problem with them over taking some where so they trapped them and disposed of them. Commercially, they are caught with a spring net that is on the ground. When the group is close enough, the net is sprung and traps them underneath. As mentioned earlier, they have very strong beaks so leather gloves are normally used
  7. Interested to see why you say Acid Cure? I dont even stock acid cure I never use it and have 47 tanks going at the moment just interested, not having a go
  8. if its calcium/lime then it fuses with the glass... it becomes one! You may well be able to scrape some of the surface off but even the acids we use will not get rid of it
  9. could also be because Im lazy
  10. Im a little differant in case you han't noticed  I feed 80 to 90% frozen blood worm to my Killis (keep in mind that I breed most the time) I chop what I want from a cube for each tank a chuck in... frozen and unwashed
  11. its nice to see people listen at time to be honest
  12. Sounds ideal then Dont get too much ice up here
  13. Ira The problem is that when hard dirt makes small dents in the blade, a strong thick blade will then damage the glass surface but with the thin stiff back blades, the steel is so thin that it will either bend the steel back into shape or simply move it out of the way. Glass has a greater impact strenght than steel but as we all know glass breaks whereas steel dents
  14. yes however the film is way softer than the glass and will damage quickly if not cleaned with even more care. Film is hard to remove and clean up the glass afterwards Film in some instances is a great product
  15. pleased I was able to help save your tank then  the other advantage with the stiff back razors is that they are a cheap as chips
  16. Do not use window scrapers They are far too thick and when damaged WILL scratch your glass There is never a week passes where asked how to remove scratches and 90% of them were caused by those scrapers Go to your hobby store or glass merchant and get a couple of stiff back razor blades. The blade is a lot sharper and thinner so the damage will be a lot less. As a glass merchant, I have never met a glazier that will use the thicker blades with the plastic handle
  17. put a bit of grease on the tank so the turtle can get a fair chance at a meal
  18. simply put this would stay on your record for many many years... guilty or guilty by association It could stop you from visiting several countries including the USofA
  19. Agreed totally Most want the world for free
  20. How can I get rid of the slime/algie around water lillys without harming either fish of the lilly?
  21. I strongly recommend doing your family tree at some stage and see the amount of your past that went to all of our wars and those that didn't return far too many to list... At times like this, I have a look through the tree
  22. the squeegy will slow it down a lot for sure but every time To me its like most things that we need to do Your pots and pans need a clean each time (not once a week) your teeth need a clean every time you eat (yes I know we normally only do it twice a day) your hands need a clean after going to the toilet I could go on for ages
  23. now your talking You wont regret it Sorry to hijack your thread Southerngurrl Just hope that I have saved a few shower systems now and in the future
