  1. I dont belive we are being "harsh or judgemental" My position changes all the time and I have to find a way to improve things or I close my factory and loose my home, end of story My problems are not those of winz or any other persons, they are mine and I have to find a way out of them when they arise. If you ask for advice and recieve it and dont like it, thats fine but to me I would give up all my hobbies and interests in order achieve what I needed to stay financial and have had to do that in the past. Now days because of those decisions I had to make in the past, I am more secure as you no doupt will be in the future. There seems to have been a lot of reasons why you cant do this and that. I honestly hope things work out for you. If thats "harsh and judgemental" then Im sorry
  2. Barrie, the benefits are paid from MY taxes too - I've been paying taxes for the last 7 years, so has my partner, and to say that someone shouldn't get a benefit simply because they were smart with their money and COULD afford things is ridiculous. sorry where did I suggest this? Im pleased that you have paid taxes for the last 7 years think of how I feel after paying taxes for the last 42 years and never getting a benifit and by the look of things I wont ever be able to retire The simple thing is that benifits are hand outs and they need to be hand ups. I think you should be able to get a government loan/hand up that has to be paid back before you are allowed to leave the country even on holliday
  3. we have one of these as well... (ok its my daughters) Called it little Ritchie after Richie Blackmore the NZ league player from a few years ago. Got its name by flying out the window at Coromandel and dissaparing into the trees. 2 days later it flew down onto Ritchies shoulder. He let out a scream that alerted all of us so hence the name
  4. agreed Unfortunatly bad decisions are normally based on good times rather than the norm I too do not have a pool. Would love to but simply cant afford it Be aware that all these benifits your after are paid from my tax. I for one applaud the way that the government is looking at ways to reduce costs.... exactly the same as I have had to do in my bussiness and personal life
  5. sorry I have no experiance in them at all A lot of the Simpsonichthys prefer lower temps
  6. come on guys give it a rest 10 tanks running... maybe they were waiting for stock to arrive? Maybe they had just moved fish to a different tank to make more room. Im not trying to give anyone a hard time but there may well have been good reasons but do they even need to explain? I run my business the way I want to! As some-one said earlier, this has been done to death... some people like one store and not the next others like store 2 and not store 1 some people have given the people that work in those stores a bad rep but willingly accept their advice on here. Personally, I dont have a problem with any of them (LFS) but support those that support me and my interests. So we can all have different tastes and expectations but dont forget that the people in the stores that you are knocking are people as well and can understandablely get annoyed as they can never keep everyone happy
  7. there was a quarintine station at Warkworth/Kaipara The one at spotswood (Melborne) use to cost around $100000 per shipment but as they have now stopped importing of most birds from Ozz, the Kaipara one would be the best and cheapest bet assuming that they are still going. When I use to import, all I had to do was keep the new imports away from my existing and indoors. No negitive air or baths and the like.
  8. I am a sales man and a trades man
  9. I can say that I have never given advise in my trade that I wasnt 100% sure of.
  10. I too dont want to be hassled (like the ASB bank) I will however dissagree in general with your comment. I offer the best advise I can and will often recomend something that is cheaper and better. Nothing gets up my goat more than people that ignore the advice I offer (when asked) and then they become experts in 5 minutes when I have over 40 years experiance in my field (glass) I simply love it when people belive they know better and it ends up costing them
  11. what would be interesting would be to see LFS rate us

    Which killie?

NOT ALL KILLIS JUMP its been said many times as has the fact that not all killis are short lived Most peat spawners from Africa are annual and as such can still live to 18 months old.
  13. Barrie

    Which killie?

it is He has lived for 3 1/2 years without a lid Over the last 12 months, he has had a lid for half that time Hes almost fully grown now
  14. Yes I know I only breed Killis but I never use air and always use Meth Blue in a small lidded container that floats on the tank top

    Which killie?

Fundulopanchax sjoestedti Caserol is the best breeder of these here in NZ I belive Have a serious look at the directions of the markings and you will see what I mean about Van Gough. No God of any type could design markings like those

    Which killie?

if thats the case, why not King Killis? large enough so that you can see them at a glance full of energy in a majistic way unlikely to breed (of more likely to eat their young) Will live to be several years old (mine are over 3 years at the moment) colours that only an artist could think of Patterns that the great surrealist Van Gough could have ever drempt up Plus the most fasinating thing is that they smile at you

    Which killie?

what length do you want? that too can make a difference Gardneri P82?
  18. whole problem as you pointed out is that you pay peanuts and get monkeys Honestly wish you all the best in this but its already cost you an extra days holliday (pay) and has your boss upset, may well have been better to pay the extra $20?
  19. I suppose though, pay for peanuts and you get monkeys. this honestly sums it up Im possibly going to upset some buuuttttt This whole fancy (fishkeeping) is often based on prices. I see all the time people want things "cheap" or free. Trying to save a single dollar by importing and buying NEW things off TM. Selling fish cheaper than the LFS and there fore cutting them out. Truck driving for this type of thing is not highly skilled so in order to be able to compete with others, companies hire staff that are on the bottom dollar. They dont bother reading the instructions and dont really care so we get what we pay for. We all need to be aware of what service we want and what we expect and where needed be prepared to pay more for it, not simply say its only a mater of picking it up and delivering it too me. Heir... I honestly are NOT having a go at you, we are all guilty of this. I too have been buying a cheaper product that has no warentee at my work and when I came accross a small problem, they pointed this out to me. I changed to a more costly product so my customers would have a better long term deal. Heir, I too would be angry and feel that you have done exactly the right thing. Your costs are far greater than the companies and you have not recieved the service that you would have expected so Im sure you have a claim but you would have possibly had better service had you paid a greater amount where the staff are of a higher quality and are paid a bit more Good luck
  20. where did you buy it from

    Jager Heaters

at a guess, the condensation will be not caused by leakage but when made. I doupt that dried air would have been used. Keeping the tops out of the water may well be more harmfull as the heat difference in the submerged glass vs the not submerged in a cold winters day when you open the lid of the tank may cause thermal breakage I tried to contact the makers of Visi-Therm to see if I could import these but with no luck. These have an international reputation for being real good and I have not heard of any failures at all
  22. Possibly a problem when you went through Stella? Ive been through only twice since the cans were made, the first time there were not a lot but the second it was great. I also enjoyed the owls and other native birds. I was able to help them with a couple of problems they had with breeding.
