  14. ti point has two Alligators and the Auckland zoo has one. At least I think they are Alligators.
  15. heard whispers last year, i think Aucklnd Zoo is possibly pushing it
  16. go for a false bottom setup with a pump to waterfall, it keeps humidity up and you can grow philodendrons which look awesome.
  17. I just read the zoo website as listed and it has me worried, if it is all NZ fauna then what has happened to the aquarium and reptiles/fish that were in it? I was told that it was a refurbishment and that they were redoing the reptiles and fish etc better than ever, since then most of the reptiles have been taken off display, I love Nz native wildlife and Fauna but just go for a bush walk to see it, I thought the zoo was for seeing things you wouldn't see unless you travelled overseas, just my thoughts...
  18. Thanks Mark, I am putting a top together for it soon so it doesn't look to diy. going to go a lot bigger for w/dragon set up later in the year. Just wish I had the room to do an outdoor enclosure like yours!!!
  19. Here you go bit of an old picture, more lighting and UV now, you need a good gradient of heat and UV available so the lizard can self regulate. tank size 1800 x 800 x 800 Also have a heat pad under the smooth rock in the middle of enclosure and the beardie goes down onto the rock or lies on the sand if it gets a bit cold. hope that is of help
  20. some pics from Auckland Zoo before they were executed
  21. I am the national sales manager for a specialist tool company I would rather have a large plot of land with many reptiles, birds and fish with tropical plants everywhere, people could come and see all the enclosures and plants and buy them at an onsite plant nursery and specialist petshop, just a dream but might just get there someday. Closest i've seen is Living Art in tauranga, might be hard graft but its a pretty awesome way to spend everyday.
  22. it would be great if one day Nz native frogs are available on a permitted system like the geckos and skinks, while they are endangered like they are I don't see it happening for a loooonnnggg time!! we are lucky we can keep the Australian frogs that are here, the green and golden and whistling are beautiful frogs, who knows maybe someone might find an albino whistling tree frog one day. I agree with Repto imagine if it were made public where the Albino green and goldens frogs were, there would be a big rush to find them and the area would be trashed, same thing for natives if they were available.
  23. try one of the floating docks available, mine never used to but as soon as I put a spotlight over the land part they were basking most days.
  24. you need to use bigger rocks to section off the coco fibre, the bigger rocks also form the pond
