  4. I got mine from Animates in henderson but since the "Brat" left their plants have turned to crap , haven't seen any there lately, maybe HFF might have something
  5. I have just gone through this process, you may find this helpful, http://www.reptiles.org.nz/regulations&husbandry.htm as for costs, it differs for each area, get hold of your local DOC person And yes you need a permit for all Native reptiles, also the australian Rainbow skink which is in there by default.
  6. just checked and the one in the second link has been taken off, did you email that one Hans? and yes after checking the guidelines I would agree maybe I should'nt have posted the links, just thought it would be interesting for us herpers
  7. you would have to be pretty simple if you thought they were legit. just thought it was funny what you bring up on searches, I wasnt even searching snakes!

  9. yeah I have heard of that butterfly place, I have been to the one up here and it was awesome, dont know if I will have the time to visit it but you never know. I am taking one of my reps with me and have warned him of the extra activities we will be doing while on the trip, poor guys getting used to it now I drag him all over the place :bounce: Donna your'e lucky to have a female Reeves, I lost my female last year after she went walk about and have two males going nuts, no females around though!!
  10. Caryl, I am in Blenheim probably Thursday or friday, are you around during the day, it would be nice to say hi and see your lovely pond and set ups.
  11. Hi all, i'm going to be in the lovely South Island for business the week of the 14th this month, does anyone know some good places to visit that keep reptiles, native and exotic, i'm going to be in Dunedin, Christchurch and Nelson/Blenheim over the course of the week so any info or invites would be appreciated. Cheers Chris
  12. Masterton has free delivery, get them to take pics of different ones so you can choose, I got mine sent up from lower North island and they were fine.
  13. yes what pricing, I think heaps of terrarium keepers would be keen on backgrounds like that!!!
  14. if this is the Lloyd that has been asking questions on one of my TM auctions I will give you this advice, if you want to get stuff from overseas use Australian or Usa reptile sites, just google reptile supplier and you will find heaps, just don't think you will get amazing bargains every time. there is a lot of research and money spent at times trying to find a good supplier, also it helps if you are already importing other products in at times. Have a better look at the commercial and private sales on this site, there are some good deals on reptile products already here in NZ, the hard work has already been done for you.
  15. I have fine sand in my enclosure and havent had any problems with it. just feed in a dish, easy to take poo out.
  16. Unfortunitly I would have to say I would be quite wary if I had tortoises, I can't blame people for being very careful who they show or deal with, gone are the days when people just wanted to see reptiles, it seems almost all the people I know have been burned at some point when they have opened up what they have to the masses to see, its a shame its got like this.
  17. if bright green it will be a green and golden bellfrog (litoria aurea) if warty back with light green stripe up its back it will be southern bellfrog (litoria raniformis) I have found wild caught young frogs are quite often small compared to captive morphed frogs, maybe just better and more food when captive. hope this helps
  18. thanks Bill, I think I feel a google learning session coming up tonight for me
  19. what does that mean Mark i'm sure you will see some generations to come, you may be a bit pickled by then but hopefully still about
  20. http://www.nzfrogs.org/NZ+Frogs/Introduced+frogs.html This may help
  21. what if the current one dies before the babies are ready for breeding, will they just be crossed together as mutant turtles ( no ninja jokes thanks )
  22. yeah you won't get a cooter, as far as I know there is only one here and they have crossed it with red ears to try to get something different. reeves are the best out of the turtles
