  1. Yeah dolphins bottom left. 4 of them courtesy of Messrs 'Livingart' New addition and have blended in well. Hungry fish make for good photo eh! Yes tank getting there. Still adding subtracting and looking forward to the taiwan reef getting bigger. Might be keen for more so hope you get that group and breed them 'Trophy'
  2. I'm thinking... About the stereotype image of someone who is up at 2am 'blown away' by universe stuff
  3. Tend to change mine fairly regularly. This one of my daughter and nephew last week in rotovegas.
  4. I have one juvi male He's growing up in 600ltr male tank with a selection of Haps/peacocks in this tank. many are larger than him including 3 Red empress young males. Happy as larry I say go for it. As ryan as said they are still available off the list but i'd say you will have buyers if you produce fry.
  5. You guys would know better than me, but do your 'Goldie' fry have the vertical barring as Davids grey ones seem to. Interesting when you look at 'Multi' fry. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1749
  6. and cheap....not not too mention the filtration systems David would be putting into them. get that one past your mum. 180x60x50 =540ltr and awesome community or African tank.
  7. HFF Mt Roskill is worth a go- if just to see the Zeb plecs. Not sure what Butterfly creek out by airport is like these days. 40ft african tank, crocodile, and butterfly enclosure. Otherwise a drive out through Waitakeres to west coast is always something I'd say is worth a go. transport museum is MOTAT but main Museum in domain is cool too.
  8. Not scientific at all- but based on comparative shutter/aperture used for both fluro and LED think the intensity of the LED lights is about the same as the fluro's, maybe a bit brighter, but colur temp is definitely cooler. Just out of interest which one would you call "sunshine' -as depending where you live there are two fish out of the three yellow peacocks shown here that would fit that common name. Why it is good to use the designated species name wherever possible with these fish.
  9. Shot at night so only lights are tank lights with the LEDS. One 4ft strip of white and one of blue. Really tempted to get another white for top and try blue along bottom of tank in rear. Also have done slight restocking on tank- taking out some of older fish and growing out some new males.
  10. I I have had the pleasure of meeting the young man, and would suggest he is more capable of using TM responsibly than many 18+ I've met.
  11. Typical Neo Need to grow out 5-6 to get a pair which would be cool in something like a 4ft african community. And from what i've read Alpha pair will happily tolerate nxt generation as per Bricghardi/ leleupi etc. I made mistake of getting two of the 6 bars once as Adults from different sources. One tore other to pieces then proceeded to be the shyest thing in the tank.

    ID Please?

http://www.planetcatfish.com/catelog/sp ... ies_id=148 It will create a lot of waste so have plenty of filtration/Bio
  13. Be nice to get another chance with those 5 bar trets again eh? http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1639 We collectively missed the boat with those it seems, unless somewhere out there is being a bit secretive
  14. That's very cool. Who's going to run the book "closest to sale price". Last one of these on TM wAs about 3 yrs ago Nd went just under $900.Was adult female though I reckon they'll get close to retail once auction fever sets in and a few have already figured where they'll put the cave. And it won't be any of the names that have already bid either I'd suggest. Well done HFF!
  15. Yes I was thinking as I read What would that amount of genetic research achieve if devoted to a more productive end.
  16. Disco Fish! http://www.practicalfishkeeping.co.uk/c ... ntent=html
  17. Read the thread title and already knew what you were going to desrcibe. If only everyone new how easy this group fish was to care for and maintain. :bounce:
  18. Elope! Get married on your honeymoon. Spend some money on a resort/local photographer. Chances are some of your closest friends, nearest/dearest will come. Come back and have an BYO Barbarcue 'after party' and play the video of your Beach wedding!
  19. Was going to say the fish look Ok but a lot of images are off the net. A few seem to be of his fish look at comparison of supplied aro shot and his.
  20. Yeah, that could work. Personally I'd replace male/female or both for a bunch of juvies. Yes shame about advice. Probably would have been better to buy a group of juvies to growout in that tank so you had a nicely maturing group when you upgrade. Not looking to 'hawk' fish but if you are interested I have good supply very clean 3-4cm juvies.
  21. What size are they. I've had yellows breed at 4cm. The other thing to be weary is that naturally they would be in larger groups with Males having multiple females to mate with. in a one on one situation the male will continually harass the one female even if she isn't ready to breed. This can be a dangerous scenario for the female especially in a small tank like yours where she has no place to escape from his attention.
  22. and you can ramp up temp to 28-30 degrees which wont bother Zeb at all.
