Could be anything. There were some peacocks that came in as yellow nyassae then renamed 'Cobue' that look like the fish in the pic. A group of variuos sizes was up for sale recently. Unfortunately that trader doesn't have a good track record for caring about the purity of the fish he sells. He also has a bad track record of listening so he may well have been told what they were. The fact you can call something rare when you don't even know what it is should tell you a bit. He has a track record of getting his stock off TM then reinvents them to something amazing. Not to say they won't be a pretty fish but for that money for one juvi. I would at least expect a name. Give him a bit of time and he'll probably find it one. His anthem is 'Never let the truth get in the way of a good story'.

Very nice. I agree it is nice to get any new species of these sort of Hap in. Perhaps not as stunning as Empress but cool none the less. Peaceful haps are right up with peacocks for me. I was always hoping we'd get the Protomelas sp. Spilonotus here, as they seem common enough overseas. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1359 So really good to see new species. If either of these ones came in though I really do flips. Again quite common in oversea aquaria and genus we have here already so always hoping. http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1218 http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1446 http://www.cichlid-forum.com/profiles/s ... hp?id=1044

You cover costs!!! My accountant is convinced I have the most power hungry computers on Earth

columbians! or try rainbows how about some of the new Tang shell dwellers. You would need to hurry with those though. Probably a few already feverishly trying to breed them right now so they can be first by selling ridiculously small fry at crazy prices

Without repeating myself they need space. All the "time out" in the world wont change that. Discus are 'stress merchants. I would suggest banging a Adult Discus into a net for 10 mins will lead to behaviour almost the complete opposite of that which you desire. Not only have you upset the territory you have completely freaked it out. So now you will have 2 X 130 ltr tanks with 5 discus each. I can see this would be a good idea based on the assumption that the tank isn't already completely over loaded with a lot of Adult cichlids that have just been newly introduced to a new environment and to each other.

Perhaps you could convince him to post here in the trade and exchangesection as I would buy it and definitely know some others that would also.

General tank dynamics aside -The rule of thumb is 50lts per Discus so at this stage -10 in 260ltrs-you will have issues. The problem with Discus is that once they go downhill it is really hard to convince them otherwise. They don't like being shoved around like you can with other fish so your issue will be how long they will continue before one decides it's had enough. I've seen two year old Discus that were still 3cm even though they eat like the others because they just stopped growing due to the stress they underwent early on. You may already have pairs as well which will provoke the situation. Are any paired up or showing signs of it- you may want to remove them both, as a male who is retreating from another male protecting his female has little space to do so in that set up. As Aquila has said they tend only to squabble with the closest to them in terms of heirarchy Can the biggest Discus go into the 1200 now?

Cool-Pepe it is then!

Not a cuckoo Here's one of mine Not petricola or lucipinnis either Body spots look like that of 'Decora' but head shape and eyes look wrong, as is patterning. If it were pure and from rift valley leading dorsal ray would be all black and dorsal would be be all black with white distal margin. Also this fish only seems to have partial black of caudal fin lobes. I would tend to Hybrid hence the lack of known name. But is very cute for sure- looks more of a Pepe than Pedro with those small peppery spots What would RRP be P44?

The only prob with colour bits is it tends to taint white ( white Diamonds, checkerboards, pigeons etc) and yellow Discus become melon coloured. They do love it though.

Are fish eligible for gastric bypass surgery funding

Fish with puppy fat? or maybe it's just water retention. Mine is about 17cm now . I've had it about 4yrs as was about 10-12cm then. -
I was in HFF albany the other day and saw this guy I'm sure there were lolli wrappers under his rock Perils of hybrid's as it appears to be. As a comparison here is a shot of mine

doing a methyline blue treatment and ramping up temp for a couple of days wont hurt them either.

I'm thinking the food is just an accompaniment to his wine I panfry breast on skin side for approx 10 mins. I score into skin first with knife due to high fat content which you now release you dont really need a lot of oil. I then transfer breast to finish at high heat in oven for another 10-15 mins. Then prepare same as Nav- little bit of crumbled blue cheese in salad to go with the pear and quite partial to Hoisin sauce based jüs or as marinade. Slow cooker for thighs and legs

Yeah they are nippy and flighty because like many schooling fish they are a nervous fish in smaller groups as they naturally school in huge numbers.
-
Agree! space Ok but that ice blue is the wrong fish to be tank leader

As long as the livingstoni isn't too big,( doesn't sound like it is with tose tankmates) then 3-4cm BN's will be OK. GBA's will also do Ok and give you a bit more colour. I've had panaques, cochliodons, BN's, and hemiancistrus sp. happy as in with Africans. Mbuna's cant be a bit more nippy as they are in more direct competition for the same space. You might find the lumphead will chase them away from his/her hole but no real issues.

said the illiterate ghoul at the foot of the bridge. Could it be that the stench was actually him and not the eggs thought the princess. There was but one last chance to mark the frog with her kiss and prove her love was jenuine . She must sing a Chet atkins Christmas caryl and in so doing releasing the Phoenix from the flames of the fire. With scant regard for... Edit; Really Mark? It was just getting meaty

He came upon a shrimp and a cat who had between the worst case of 'misery' they mistook for humour, but others not of the "Y" generation knew to be pointless self obsesssion. At first the guppy was somewhat bemused by this- his first challenge to his quest to find hemlock but in his pocket was....

Yeah I would almost say you are almost describing normal behaviour as it is now, and depending on tankmates I've witnessed them disappear for a while. I think many loaches, catfish etc will be more gregarious and 'showy' when young and then get more hidey hidey as they mature. It would be interesting to see how active they are while you're sleeping. Still would be nice if something more exciting was happening under that wood eh?
-
Probably just doing a bit of a typical Discus sulk with the change. I'd suspect they will come right soon enough. Does the one fish start and the others follow?
-
Yep. They are one of the more aggressive plecs around, deadly if you put them with other baryancistrus
-
Yeah the best course of action if thats your plan is to start getting juvi's- males if you can ID them- and start growing them out in your 620T, with a view to upgrade them to a bigger tank-the longer the footprint the better. You can crowd them in when small. Maybe add another bunch when you get new tank. Add groups rather than singles. Adding one bigger hap like litho, electra, empress is also good as you want a "Benign Dictator" as the tank leader As Ryan has suggested getting the balance right is the key to successful all male tank and getting them young and growing together is a good start.

They are basically are cousin to a giraffe as are polystigma and 'fusco's'- They are all nimbochromis genus and all get big and predatory. They are cool fish though and them in a tank with eyebiters, copadichromis sp. would be cool. Since you already have the empresses and yellows you could go for more docile haps like Electras, lithobates, or Blue Dolphins all of which would also work well with peacocks
