I'm aware of a couple of Zeb owners. both have numbers but I don't think they are pooling resources. there seems no reason why we can't have some on the market one day. Hummingbird- perhaps your view of these guys would change if they were in your tank, having said that I would be happy to have the L134 leopard frog as an alternative.

Adtape is a commercial drench and obtained from rural suppliers. I understand even farmers now are required to jump through hoops to get. funny to think that delicate Discus use the same product as Llamas, we should be able to get it a lot easier than we can.

Hi I dosed 2 weeks ago with 5ml per 100ltrs, a vacumn for worms next day with little water change then a back up dose 48hrs later. Turn of any UV filter and remove carbon. The discus have grown another stomach it seems since-feeding and looking great. The Bayer product Adtape is as I understand is the commercial name for Praziquatel here- can someone shed anymore light on that?

Got some Leopards today at Jansens glenfield. $23 for ten with the Wednesday discount. I think they are cool, could put them in with a bunch of Galaxies?-or my daughters tank if anyone has reservations about that.

Hi guys, it was great to see them so active- the girls that is, the boy L128's just chillin'. Cichfanatic- I use a Nikon D2X SLR digital and use a 60mm Micro Nikkor lens which can get me in real close. Then just wait.... cheers!

Hi I have one "Maleri' male, got him ages ago- and he's ordinary, also some juvis from Malawinz growing. Colous are dfferent, but it's the body colour coming down the full length of the forehead to the mouth is where Malawinz are as they should be.The father of our fish is a beauty for sure!. But I guess it will be while before our market will warrant the importation of real A grade cichlids.

took these shots last night as these guys were particularly active. the L200 is about three years old and ready to go- if only I could find a boy for her. The L128's are a year younger and finally becoming sexable, the biggest about 13cm now. hope you enjoy the shots.

Hi Have got these by looking around, all about 10cm body. Afrikan- A Virgin red, yes really nice fish from babyfish, she has another beauty for sale. Babyfish-put on the shots you showed me.

Not too many plants in my setup. The discus are there really to look pretty and they go with the blue and green Phantom plecs in the rocks. the plecs are plant munches so no plants, but some wood as I thought the Discus might like it. Tank temp is 29 degreesC, Ph is 6.4 and these Discus are growing well. 80% water change every 4 days.

Hey Daniel The azureus came in a wee while ago so got a Trio. Red empress I got off Mike aka Tropheus, I think there are some more around also- yeah the colouration is insane. Currently shifting things around to grow up the freibergs and Baenschi's-probably same shipment as yours. One of them will end up in the display tank with those big haps. Adodge- got to be cichlidforum.com. Go into the fish profiles. 2ft is pushing it. You could always buy juvi's which can be great to watch and grow them into bigger tank. there are always electric yellows, demasoni, kadango and fryeri fry on Trademe. cheers! Demasoni Dagonblood peacock

Hi Seems everyone has gone down the Discus trail. They are beautiful but can be a bloody nightmare too. Look at all the discussion on this thread on the pro and cons of them. Don't get me wrong I love mine, if you get it right, great if not ...Arrrgh What about some Angels, there are some cool ones around, from my experience a little more hardy- from your tank description they would suit as well. Perfect mid water displayers, I wonder if you would get the same from young discus. which ever way-Good luck!

The Koura rules are weird. it seems you can collect from the wild but can't transport live specimens, so I guess kill em' and eat em' applies here. If you have a farming license you can sell also sell them. the ones in the shop are farm bred, and you can get a notice to confirm that when you buy, so there should be no hassles, unless by chance you start breeding them in plague prportions for your local restaurant. another case of DOC and MAF not keeping up with each other.

The last lot of pitbulls here seem to be intermingled with parotocinclus spilosoma as well. A diiference in patterning from jumbo- both cute if a little drab but good price. Gold nuggets, snowballs get big, goldies and Mango's even bigger(25cm+) A lot of fancy plecs aren't necessarily good tank cleaner or algae eaters, just show ponies. A few GBA's in that tank will keep it sparkling and good colour too. Or Albino bristlenoses for something a little flasher-cool little red eyes.
-
Hey Ilah No unfortunately, waiting for the day that I wander in a LFS and see one waiting for me. Should be no reason why they can't be here, except for the eventual price tag I guess. I have the L191 Royal which I love, like half a watermelon sitting on the bottom of the tank.
-
Plenty of Common Bn's not as many GBA"s 8x L128 blue phantoms, 7cm-13cm 5x L104 1X L200 green phantom 10 x L136 hypancistus 3x L260 Queen Arabesque 1X L004 angelicus pleco 1x L191 royal panaque 1x synodontis Angelicus !x cuckoo synodontis
-
Yeah as above. Panaques sre also woodeaters and will get big. their teeth srround their mouth, 4 lines that dont quite join to form a diamond shape . Real wide head and generally a high crown. My L191(Royal) is still growing at 16cm, have also seen L090(papas) around but would love to know if anyone has L027 Xingu here. L204(flash), L104(clown), and L226( changae) are also labelled here as panaques as they are woodeaters, but they are actually Panagolus or 'mini panaque" yet another Pleco genus. Maybe sometimes its just easier to call them plecs.
-
The 134's are fantastic, they are getting harder to find overseas it seems and the prices are going up, so chances of getting them here is getting slimmer. Contender for the next "it" plec, and way cheaper than zebras. Rcon-all good with the spotties, growing well.
-
I feed mine carrot, potato, and bloodworm and mysis shrimp. I popped in a dying goldfish about 4cm long and the whole thing was gone within the hour. these guys are cool to watch.
-
Hi Yes unfortunately thre Sixbar distochodus looks great as a juvinile in the LFS. It will grow to a huge size as well as loose all it colouring and turn a dark brown. As a schooling fish it is out of sorts by himself, so the seeming aggression is really nervous reaction of being alone. Lovely looking fish in the shop but hard to keep. Actually comes from river systems in the Congo basin. You can keep a couple or so with a few silver distochodus but hard going. Last bu tnot least is that it will destroy most plants.
-
I was there the day these guys went in, actualy in with lithobates, got one guy and took the most female lookig one as well. One day later "he " was returned, and I think rest are all males. LFS!!!-Yes!....but how about Asian importers shipping in mostly, if not all males.-These fish sre big enough for a trained eye to sex.

From fresh water it should be fine, especialy if you just picked it up. Boil it if you had to wrestle it out of the ground then dry it out, a week in current climate should be good. I love collecting stones and wood for my tanks. cheers!
