  1. That would be a lot of lemon juice though. Might try it sometime. I grossed the missus out by eating some raw, and then showing here the mussel crabs found in some shells. :rotf:
  2. Thanks for all the ideas guys but am not able to consume these immediately and therefore wish to marinate in vinegar as they will then keep for a couple of days in the refrigerator. Does anyone have any variances on the vinegar recipes above?
  3. I think thats pretty much what I will do but will throw in a few chopped chilli's
  4. Does anyone have a good recipe for homemade marinated mussels. I am looking for the type like the sealord style you buy in pottles at the supermarket. I have been told to use equal portions of Malt and White vinegar and add a teaspoon of sugar per cup of vinegar. I am wanting to add chilli to the mix. Anyone know of any good recipes I can try. I have a bag of fresh mussels collected today.
  5. Apple, Thats the problem. I am currently sorting out customer faulty returns here at work, what a headache. I personally wont touch the stuff because of the hassles I have dealing with their NZ Agents and repairers. JMO
  6. Yes yes, what she said :sage:

  8. Just an update with some pics of my little Man Time sure flies. It only seems like yesterday I was waiting for him to arrive.
  9. Yes I agree. I never use those silly cartridges they come with. Bio noodles and filter wool is what I use on mine.
  10. http://www.fnzas.org.nz/?p=923 E. horemani would be my guess but in saying that I am no expert on Echinodorus species. Alanmin should see this in the morning and my guess is he will know. HTH
  11. That kinda defeats the purpose then. Aquatic Mix is used because it is full of nutrients.
  12. There is a reason why Vets have so much training. Simply hacking into an animal is cruel. Unless you know what you are doing I suggest you forget the idea of cutting its eye out. As suggested, have you tried Furan etc?
  13. These ones have a 10 metre range so am assuming its infra red.
  14. Just had notification the clown fish will be available also at the same price. Note, not all store will have these, only those who order them in. These will be a one off order so once they supplier is sold out thats it. Mods, I am not trying sell anything here, just letting people know they will be available form their local stores.
  15. Just a note to those who may be interested. These will be available soon from most 100% Electric stores. Go into you stores and order some. Shark only will be available. I have just ordered some for my shop and they will be on special for $69.00 but they will be limited stock. Helium available from most party hire stores and can be refilled.
  16. you wont find these on window sills. You will find these in damp dark corners of the garden under the woodpiles etc. Not social animals and like it damp and dark. More common in forests and bush etc
  17. Took these just now so you can get a size comparison from my hand. ( cos I think Insect Direct is too scared to hold his :sml1: :rotf: ) For those that dont know me I am a 31 yr old "solid" Male, so not small hands. See they just furry cuddly pets, nothing to be scared of
  18. Nope. And if it did go running round my house I wouldnt be worried either. More scared of us than we are of them. And they are harmless to humans. Yes they will bite if they have to but a bee sting is far worse.
  19. Yeah I would love to have those Hermits myself. Was fascinated by them when I was in Aussie a few years ago. The petshops sold painted shells for them too.
  20. And now for some not so good pics of her enclosure. I dont keep it on the kitchen bench, just put there as it sits normally in a dark corner. Tank needs a clean up majorly. With flash Without flash View from the top
  21. My Girl lives in an Exoterra 20 X 20 X 20 cube enclosure. I try to feed her at least once a week but during winter she went for three months without eating a thing. Do not, I say Do not feed them Crickets. You will be woken in the middle of the damn night to the blimin thing chirruping loudly :sml1: My substrate is just sand and peat moss mixture which I keep moist. The tank is usually one giant web but I recently tore it apart as I thought she had gone to spidey heaven as she was not eating anything I put in there. She was there just hibernating I think. I feed mainly flies and beetles as they are easiest to find, but also slaters and moths and grasshoppers during the warmer months.
  22. Yes we do get them here occasionally. There was a few shipments that came in over the last few years but as they are a smaller fish tat has a higher price tag they are slow sellers and I would imagine that they would only brought in occasionally as demand is not great. If you get some breed em. They are really easy to get to breed, it is the feeding of the fry that is the harder part. Tiny mouths means Tiny Food.
  23. I would love an L series lens but unfortunately the budget does not nallow for such.
