  1. Not nice Stella. I know that road quite well and some parts or quite steep. Who was the other person? Was it a DOC worker that I know?
  2. The reason for this is if you promote it to early then people start to follow the new rules before it actually takes place. This would cause more mayhem. Its quite simple really, Give way to those who you have to cross their path or middle line and are leaving a terminating road(T Junction). BTW, I got 100% in the above link
  3. What is the photo period? How much is she feeding? Greenwater is caused from excess nutrients and lots of light. Cut the lighting period a bit and see what the green water does.
  4. The plant you have picture is a type of Myriophyllum. My guess is myriophyllum variifolium What sort of tank is it in and what is the lighting like? Most Myriophyllums prefer cooler water and are more suited as pond plants. Sheepsnana is correct about emersed growth. The plant in the picture is showing its emersed form. Notice how it is quite rigid. This is one give away sign it is grown emersed. If it was submersed form it would be quite limp.
  5. Red Hygrophila????? How can it be Hygrophila and be Alternanthera at the same time?? I agree with Alan regarding the Alternanthera. Flowers would be seen on the stem as they are on this image L.glandulosa has a few different forms but commonly grows with green upper leaf surface when grow emersed.
  6. That looks normal to me. Mine do that at times, Especially when they are about to or during spawning.
  7. Looks like Cyperus helferi, Ludwigia Repens and Ludwigia glandulosa if you start at the top and go clockwise.
  8. I use flourish Excel. I buy it by the 2litre bottle which lasts me ages.
  9. yes, dwarf rainbows can be kept with rams and cories. Dwarf neon rainbows are great fish and are really easy to breed also.
  10. I have six Bolivian Butterfly Rams in my tank. At least one pair as they have spawned multiple times and had wrigglers. A small amount of aggression between the males but nothing but a bit of lip tugging now and then. HTH

  12. You dont have substrate! You have a decorative layer of gravel. In your case leaving them in the pots will probably be more beneficial.
  13. I agree with Alan here, but the leaf size is smaller than what I would expect from V. spiralis. Their leaves are usually thicker.
  14. Fair enough. Got any photos of the offending plant?
  15. I can help you ID them, just need some good descriptions or pics to confirm the ID. Basically, Look at the strem where the leaves join. Are the leaves in a rosette around the stem or are they staggered around the stem.? If they are in a rosette them you are pretty much safe as its Elodea canadensis, if not them its likely to be the unwanted ones. As mentioned, it is probably already known that it exists in that location, and if the chance of it spreading downsteam are less likely then it probably is not a priority to clear. If risk of further distribution is high then report it immediately. Increased risk depends on how far up tributaries the location is. Near the sea then it is unlikely to spread much further downstream.
  16. Not for bullies or Shrimp. I have no lid on my tank and have lost one Inanga only. Koura will try to escape so a lid is a must for them.
  17. Looks like a good night. Yes the Te Manawa tank is sweet. Would love a tank that large at my house. I havent made it up the line to Turangi yet but it is on the list. What were you using to catch the fish?
  18. I agree with above comments about starting your own small business rather than franchisee. The costs of sign writing you vehicle and making some signs and doing flyer drops will be far cheaper than paying your franchise fees. The other negative thing about the franchise thing is you are tarred with the same brush if the franchise gets bad media like one did recently. http://www.stuff.co.nz/204255/Franchise-scam-under-investigation-by-SFO I know several guys who do it and do quite well. The grass will always grow, more often in Spring to Autumn but hey, Make Hay while the Sun shines. You could branch out ( get it ) into basic section clearing and maintenance during the winter months if the mowing slows down a bit. (Hedge trimming, weeding, etc)
  19. Joe is right, it will grow in your tank. I'm not sure how it will go in the warmer tropical tanks but hey, give it a go. I have a bit of it growing in my Native tank. It doesn't grow much but certainly not dieing.
  20. It is a Moss and no it is not a pest.
  21. Whats up with topic number 1 on your Nek Minutes Board?? Tank looks awesome Twan.
  22. Thats definitely a a moss. Not Egeria, way to small. I have seen this around before. More commonly found above water level but in damp environments.
  23. Yeah if its from me them it is likely to be willisii of some form. I read and answered my post before from my cellphone and the plant looked bigger and longer than I thought.
