  1. on the right. could be mistaken. i'll have another look today.
  2. i'm sure i just saw one of those down at hollywoods albany about 5 mins ago. going for $60 again.
  3. i used to. but i'm sure there are a few on here.
  4. It depends on how much you are willing to spend. You can either get the proper plant substrate from a LFS. Or you can use an aquatic plant mix like Daltons which a few people on here already use, which is way cheaper. After that you can use gravel like brightwater which is the really dark small gravel (1-4mm size) or propagating sand. Check out the Aquatic plants section for more info.
  5. thats good to hear. lol one thing to worry about. most people that suffer from the dreaded MTS syndrome, have usually spent the price equilevent(sp?) to a new car.
  6. just hold off for now. i might be able to bring some to next months meeting. have about 5 preg females in our display tank that are due in the next few days. or ask at tomorrows meeting to see if anyone has an overflowing tank. lol
  7. woof spaghetti or baked beans?
  8. he isn't the pres. but he does play a pretty big role. let him reveal it. lol
  9. no worries. the more the merrier. i'm sure the other members would agree on this as well.
  10. lol na. The president is Matt. I'm not sure what his handle is on here tho...
  11. I'm part of the "Auckland Fishkeepers Association". I'll be heading to the meetings (which are held in Greenbay) from the shore, so if you'd like to check them out just send me a pm or something.
  12. well there are registered members for the site and full registered members which are members of a FNZAS affiliated club. Being a full registered member has its benefits. Correct me if i'm wrong guys... Edit: oh but you have to pay a capitation fee + the club fee to become a full member. just in case you wanted to know. check with the mods i'm guessing...
  13. russia plane or boat?
  14. rugby soccer or tennis?
  15. lmfao I gotta get mine running 1st. Got the reg + bubble counter/difuser on the way. Just picked up a brand new Alco2jet bottle from farmers (they retail at $79.95) earlier, while I was refilling the smaller bottle for my sons sodastream. Prolly drop in at Hollywoods or somewhere to get some hosing. After I get it running, you can bug me. lol Alot of people on here use the same set-up. Check the technical topic thread or use the search engine. Its what I've been using as a guide. Pressurized is alot better then yeast apparently. Don't need to keep mixing up new batches of yeast mixture for the DIY or store brought versions. They are good back-ups for when you have to re-fill the bottle, but that'll only be once or twice every 2 months depending on the amount used.
  16. Could try a Sodastream set-up. I'm in the middle of setting one up now. Get an Alco2jet Bottle or the smaller bottle, get the regulator off trademe, needle valve from a hobbyshop, CO2 safe hose, and a DIY bubble counter. After that you'll need a difuser. Depending which bottle you use, it could be cheaper then the approx $70 for each of the yeast orientated Plant Gro systems (considering you said you were looking at getting a couple). You can start on the smaller bottle, then wait til the larger bottle pops up on trademe, or get one from a Sodastream stockist.
  17. yup hansen fittings thru the glass. it is way cleaner then dropping the hoses over the top. there's enough with all the power wires goin in as it is. lol
  18. i now only live around the corner from albany hollywoods so i'll keep an eye out. thanks for the heads-up.
  19. lol thats my skimmer i'm selling. its ok but like davidb said, you'll always want more out of a marine tank besides fish. IMO i'd save for a skimmer that can handle way more then what your aiming at. although the skimmer i have now would be good for a FO tank, just think of what the future might bring, ie Coral, shrimp, etc. i have no clue what my skimmer will handle as i've never used it... (Edit) that is besides what all the sites are saying it can handle. no 1st hand experience.
  20. cheers Afrikan. I've been looking at Val but its too plain. i'm actually keen on twisted val. it looks really good.
  21. finally after much deliberation i have finally rebuilt the tank, got some hansen fittings to fit the filter thru the glass, and picked up a decent piece of driftwood, added plants but still after some backdrop plants if anyone can suggest some. it took so long because i knew i had to move and i've only just settled down in my new place. luckily i cycled the filter on my gfs tank so the cycle time should be cut down. here's a few pics of the tank. enjoy Full shot: Filter Intake side: Filter Return side: Left side: Right side:
  22. i'll be there as always. i'll try n drag chanel to this 1 as well. she needs a laminated card.
  23. i have a spare seat gannet. i'm just in otara, not far from the tech.. not many car spaces here tho.
