  1. oh ok so now I think I have a male and a female as one only has a couple of bristles lower on it's head! Neither have quite and impressive display but they are only 5 cm (-tail) long! Hayley :bounce:
  2. Well the slightly larger one has bristles on his head and lip but the slightly smaller darker one has less bristles just on its head which I actually didnt notice before!! Hayley :bounce:
  3. OK so I have what im pretty sure are 2 male brown bristlenose and they are around 5cm (not including tail) and both have bristles! So first of all at this size if they have bristles is it still possible that one may be a female or am i right in sayin they are both males? :-? I will try to get decent picture but they dont seem to like the camera and always swim away when the it come out for photos! Plus my camers not very good! Thanks for any help you all may give me Hayley :bounce:
  4. Hi sorry if I put this in the wrong place but I wasnt sure! OK so 2 days ago i was looking into my tank and noticed that both of my angelfish have from what it looks like nipped dorsal fins and then i noticed my two smallest cardinals are the same but on their Pelvic and anal fins! Also about 2 weeks ago i was at 3 missing cardinals (two day later 1 body found)! Other fish in my tank are Glassbloodfin tetras (thinking may have done it) Penguin tetras, Gold zebra danios, 2 blackline flying foxes and 2 bristlenose (also numerous snails but im pretty sure they didnt eat the fish's fins ) Also what I was thinking is that lately I have been seeing the angels swimming around through the plastic plants more often and the cardinals are always swimming through them so I thought maybe that was another possibility! But the contradicting thing with that is that its only really the little Cardinals that have the nips which turns me back to the other fish! :-? So my question is is it more likely to be the plants or other fish? Thanks in advance for any help! Hayley :bounce:
  5. so do I just pic them up and put them in a lttle tank? I dont think I can get loaches coz my tank is pretty much fully stocked and I dont want to over stock! Thanks Hayley
  6. OK so a little while ago I posted a queestion about eggs on the leaves of my plants and you guys confirmed that they were snail eggs but then they disapered :-? and I gathered a fish had eaten them or something as I saw no signs of babies any where even after 5 minutes of staring into the tank looking for them! But the thing is that now I have 2 (from what I can see) small little baby snails wandering around the tank. So my questions are 1) is there likely to be more of them around or just the 2 babies? 2) Should I just leave them in there or move them to a different tank then decide what to do with them? Also any other advice concerning them would be great! Thanks in advance Hayley :bounce:
  7. If Im right then I would say I have a male and a female as one is quite alot plumper then the other which is nice and I agree I would say they are Corydoras sturbai. If I am right and they are opposite gender how big will they need to be if they decide to breed and what do they do? Thanks Hayley :bounce:
  8. Hi everyone I have 2 little (around 3cm) Golden Leopard Corys and was wondering if I would be able to tell if they are male or female yet and how to tell also. One is quite a lot chubbier then the other and slightly bigger. Thanks Hayley
  9. and white cats with blue eyes tend to go blind I think
  10. My fish tank haas now for some reason gone really greenish and murky and has been like this for about 2/3 days now! Does anyone know why? My family are getting really annoyed and keep asking me why! Thanks Hayley :bounce:
  11. I will think about the net (doubt mum will let me! ) but can I not just put the leaves they are on now into another small tank? Would they be small enough to fall through the breeding net? The most important question at the moment is how long do they take to hatch? Thanks Hayley :bounce:
  12. OK when they hatch Ill tell you! Thanks Hayley :bounce:
  13. What the eggs or baby snails? You gonna feed them to your fish? (Doesnt really matter!) If you wanna take the baby snails then cool! Saves me having to get rid of them some how! Hayley :bounce:
  14. OK so we have decided that we dont really want hundreds of snails at the moment so we want to take them out but how do I do that do I just take out the leaf they are on or what? And then what do I do with them? Oh and instead of starting a new topic I thought I would ask here! So about 1 1/2 months ago I bought 2 baby bristlenose and since then they have grown extremely fast and are now probably nearly double their original size! So my question is one of them has started to grow little bristles but the other 9smaller one) hasn't so does that mean I have a male and female or just a slower developing male? Thanks Hayley :bounce:
  15. Thanks guys I will have to decide whether I want them or not so how long does it take for them to hatch? I dont know what type of snails I have as I just noticed them one day and there are only 2 and I cant get any decent pictures of them with my camera it's terrible! When they hatch if I odnt remove the eggs will my fish eat them? And do you think I could just take them out when they are bigger? But then I Suppose I have to rehome them! Anyway the have rounded spirally shells and they are quite small at probably 1 cm max. Thanks Hayley :bounce:
