  1. I feed small maggots to some of my fish, but not very often. (don't usually make a habit of having flies around long enough to breed)
  2. I use 8L buckets to do water changes and always add about 1L of boiling water to it to take the chill off and get it near tank temp. Call me paranoid, but I always do it like that. :-?
  3. Planting mix was under the gravel, now its all over the place.
  4. I pack my polybox's in cardboard boxes, saves unnecessary questions. The difference with crickets would be that they would make noise in the darkness of a box wouldn't they?
  5. I have just uprooted all the water wysteria out of my small tank as it was just taking over and stealing the light from my other plants. I now have a great mess of planting mix above my stones and mudy water. (I didnt realise how well the water wysteria had rooted itself in) I am doing a 2/3 water change and trying to move the stones a but to cover the mix back up but I seem to be fighting an uphill battle. Anyone got any ideas?
  6. He would have recently imported them in with his last lot of discus.
  7. I didn't breed from mine. He lived for 2 years in my community tank.
  8. Yeh_buddy, I have had one of those pop out myself. DT's are a genetic mutation. The normal, nice rounded DT's come from Halfmoon genes. That one of yours and this one of mine: derive from VT genes. These are also named 'scissortails'. The perfect DT would be like a mirror image top to bottom, top and bottom fins the same size and shape and the two tail lobes the same size and shape.
  9. i just realised the cat was outside
  10. Common name is a snake plant, flowers look like cobras
  11. I haven't used any CO2 or solid ferts as the planting mix is still fresh. I dose with API Leaf Zone and Flourish excel, just a small splash every now and then.
  12. Does anyone have any of these or know much about them and their worth etc?
  13. Well, things have taken off! especially the water wysteria (sp). Is there any way to control its growth? eg, stop it from taking over the tank, lol. Have added some Red Rubin Swords and a Leopard somethingerother (forgotten the name, but thanks Alan ). I also have some new windelov as I dont seem to have any luck growing it on my piece of wood. (thanks Luke) I have started training some java moss to grow over the wood to help hold my new windelov on. any comments, ideas, criticisms always welcome.
  14. I usually put drops of liquid fry food in before the parents even spawn, it feeds the infusoria already in the water which the fry will feed on. ( they dont actually eat the liquifry) You can try some egg yolk mixed into a paste. It's messy and will need water changes often (which you should do anyway) but its a good starter food. Also microworms are good, they stay alive in the tank for ages. Good to get them onto bbs as soon as they can take it.
  15. Remove him when the fry can swim horizontally.
  16. ... Called for a standing ovation (sp) in the bar!
  17. I thought we were going down 15 to 14, then they (storm) were heading for a try... and then some magic happened Home semi final
