  1. The biggest one in the pic is about 3-4 weeks old, about 5 or 6mm.
  2. what was religeous about it other than the destiny church part - which had nothing to do with the actual topic.
  3. Use a woolen mop for the killies so you can pull it out daily and check for eggs, otherwise you may not get many.
  4. I have 2 males with 3 females. They produce about 5-12 eggs overnight for me. I only seperate them if they stop producing eggs for a while.
  5. wasn't Chin selling some on TM?
  6. an inline tap between the tank and the sump is always a good idea to regulate how much water flows through it. Just set it to the speed of the pump so it wont back up. Also helps when you want to turn it off and clean the sump out. Yes i have seen set-ups where they have forgotten taps...
  7. It may not be the right way, but this is the way I breed them: Notho's (peat spawners and divers) I use a thin layer of peat as the substrate, floating dangley plants like Indian fern floating on the surface and a few hidey holes so females dont get harrassed. Fish will spawn in the peat over a week or two, Syphon the peat out of the tank through a net over your bucket to catch the peat. (doubles as water change) Replace peat and water. Mop spawners I use a large woollen mop, but have successfully used xmas moss. Barebottom tank with large mop in it. Either pick eggs off mop daily or remove mop after a week or so it put in another tank with same water.
  8. Might as well call it the Silver Fern Eskie Rally, there's enough of them.
  9. Can someone take lots of photos for us please.

    Fry in Peat

Use a pipette, or ladle them out with something. Personally, I dont like to take fry out of water.
  11. my males often flare up to ward other males off and to show off to the females.
  12. all tail types are originally from plakat type bettas (wildtype) Through selective breeding came longer fins (VT's) then the likes of halfmoons and crowntails were developed. Then through more selective breeding halfmoons developed into deltas and super deltas, then the most common genetic deformity of halfmoons came about - halfmoon Double Tails. Same with the Crowns, through selective breeding, there is now single rays, double rays and Baloog ray or 'King crowns' (i think thats what its called- memory is a bit fuzzy atm) when the rays cross over each other.
  13. First off, :bounce: CONGRATS!! :bounce: After at least 30 odd successful spawnings under my belt, I still get excited every time I have a pair breeding. Ok, to answer some of your questions... Yes it is normal for males to have a small appitite during breeding, it is part of the conditioning to feed up the male aswell as the female. He will be busy protecting his eggs, then he will be busy catching fry and spitting them back into the nest. Cambodian is a pretty dominant gene, therefore the majority of the fry will have pink bodies, then various shades of red to blue in the finnage. There will still be some dark bodied fry. Foodwise, greenwater is a good starter, mixed with liquifry to get lots of greeblies in it, the bbs all the way. Goodluck and keep us posted.
  14. My pick would be Frosty. Would be nice to see Murph win though as I'm a Holden supporter. Who are you backing?

  16. 2nd lot only started hatching friday night-saturday morning
  17. yip, fry are around 2-3mm. They have different colours etc depends on where they were collected from.
  18. Ok, its been a few weeks and we have some fry swimming around in green water now. Around 10 so far and a few more pop up each day. Hoping there is enough greeblies in the green water to keep them fed.
  19. I just dropped my folks digital camera I was borrowing, and now it wont work. I was wondering if anyone knew where to get them fixed? Its a Sony Cybershot DCS-F717.
