  1. Oh man drool all over, very nice pics Where was tht if you dont mind me asking bulldogod??
  2. Hiya's My american cockroaches are just developing wings so hopefully start breeding asap. couple of questions for those in the know ; - do you need dirt for any reason or for them to lay eggs or will they lay them on egg cartons? -what temp is optimum for breeding? -where do you get the silicon spray from? Im just using vasiline atm which has worked well so far but i like the sound of this spray on silicon  Also does anyone have and want to sell some gisborne roaches??? (happy to trade, waxworms/fruitfly culture/also have but in limited supply some mealworms/ young locusts or crickets)
  3. I remember someone asking about these pink/glo danios which were in animates (palmy north) a while back (maybe the post has bn deleted by the mods like most the glo danios posts a while ago) anyway does this mean every animates chain store had them in?? If so they would be all throughout the country so i doubt they will track em all down untill the surface again on tradme etc?
  4. Yep theyre very loud theres no way i want it near my bedroom or in the lounge etc. Once you get the new impeller please let me know if it works for a start and if it becomes quite again would be even better  , Ive still got to look into the replacement of the impellers! when the 819 first crapped out i just got a cosmo pump and stuck tht on the intake and that worked well which was fine on the turtle pond outside but not the nicest look in a fish tank inside etc!
  5. Bk- cheers yea i love boxers theyr characters alright, Cant wait 2 get a bitch! Swt maybe worth replacing the impellers after all, cheers! Wok- yea I use eheim and or fluval if the budget allows it but im not complaing i was basically given these a while back and the big 1 did work well 4 a while but sucking up sand cant of helped them lol hopefully i havent damaged the impeller housing to seriously (lesson learnt)
  6. wot are they evil, i see the bloodworms but wots the other, is it just mossie larvae cos they look differant or am i seeing things  ? I got fruit fly and the larvae atm which is good for live food but not much outside really!
  7. Ive got a jebo 810 & 819 and both go for about 20seconds then turn off, checked impellers (or magnet motor thingy lol) and one is stuffed but 1 seems ok and yet it still stops/cuts out? Both filters been used on turtles tanks in the past so been well used i suppose! Anyone had this problem & replaced the impeller things inside the motor and did this fix the prob?
  8. hip hip horay theres alot of greasers around today
  9. I thought it was the males tht tend to bite the tips off as the females normally try getting away from them but i have seen my males trying to m8 the others and they sometimes get around the wrong way and try mating the head of the other turtle and i always think crikey hes really asking for it lol! got any pics of the reeves and how easy is it to tell the difference between the males/females?
  10. Lol yea old age it is  Seriously though i think you've hit the nail on the head, I just done a lil research and Im 90% sure thts wot it is (velvet not the grey hair  )! The joys of fish keeping huh
  11. Both in my albino koi's and another tank (on same system connected to the same sump) with some fancy platties in has the same thing?? Appears silver from under the gills and on the gills themselves! Ill try get some pics but is proving hard to see in a picture atm. Any help/suggestions would be greatfully accepted
  12. I dnt see it having any negative affect the turtles should like it (eat it) I would be interested to know how u get on in the long run! Could maybe plant japanese rush (acorus g. variegatus) around the edge of the pond, sorta likes to be semi submerged (roots wet leaves dry etc) just an idea!
  13. http://www.trademe.co.nz/Browse/Listing ... =106728077 ??
  14. I used honey gouramis (after someone on here sugested them) which seemed sucessfull at the time, but then i just found if i fed too much live food then the hydra would suddenly be thriving again so another time used a big dose of 40+% formalin which killed everything (planaria, hydra, snails) even duckweed
  15. yea its an epidemic - wild water dragons everywhere in the north island now cool ae Gannet
  16. wow very nice indeed
  17. They love abit of heat from a lamp ae, I love how they lift their leg/s up when sunning themselves.
  18. even if theyre ready to shed they shouldnt really be like tht but Ive seen much worse and would come right with better/proper conditions. Id say need better lighting & heat lamp to aid in drying out properly as you can just see what appears to be algae on its shell. Could be lack of calcium aswell.
  19. Interesting, you wouldnt happen to have a link to that thread?
  20. Yep i was going to give cockroaches ago but biosupplies had run out at the time!
  21. oh yea each to their own, i hope you were able to treat the camallanus ok Edit. Careful Mincie. Mod. Alan
