probably wont eradicte em but will stop em thriving on the left over food, theyre pretty much harmless i stopd worrying about them in my tanks and havent seen them 4 ages.
You can kill them with formalin (get the strong stuff from ya vet  ) but watch out that stuffs lethal and may harm your fish if you dose just a lil to much so straight up i wouldnt worry about them they genarally wont harm your fish!
planaria is sorta flat like a slug and relatively short or atleast the ones ive seen are.,
if theyre a reddish brown colour id say theyre tubifex which are pretty much harmless, skinny and get to around an inch long, your fish may even be feeding on them given the chance!
Interesting, thanks for the info ppl
Mine came from some king cobras which i think had been x'd with something b4 i got them, ive got blue, red and now have the odd swordtail coming through, makes for an interesting tank full!
Ive got some guppies which appear to have like a swordtail, some at the bottom of the tail some top and bottom.
Anyone else got some of these I havent seen them around before???
Just had a local guy ask where to buy some so thought id try my luck here?
I may also be keen on any newts of a good size, chinese or japanese (no discrimination here  )
Cheers
Matt
Yea ive never actually seen em catch a fish but they sure will clean up any that die, so if fish just disapear they most likely died and the snails had a feast
$4.50 is a tad pricey but still petshops have to cover costs, keep an eye on trademe they pop up on there from time to time!
Good as, yea i thought it would be good for spawning fish in etc but once it started mixing through my tanks and in the java moss i gt sick of it fast, it still keeps coming bak in a couple of tanks dammit but got rid of most of it!
Applesnails seem to like, but they like neally any greens
Sounds like alot of trouble for wot its worth to me but anyway, (not knowing wot sorta tank/setup you have) Just an idea if your that worried about wasted energy  the simple way would be make a cabinet if your fish tank doesnt have 1 already & maybe insulate the bottom (prob not needed) cabinet and stick ballast in tht, then just have the halide in top which id imagine would be more than enough heat so you may have to wire in a small fan on a thermostat up top incase it gets too hot. (you could have the fan connected to abit of down pipe or something and send the hot air down to the bottom but imo halides aint tht expensive to run & you can always sell a few cuttings to cover costs easy enough!
Yea i agree as a substrate can cause problems but have always wundered wot about for egg laying then, ive seen a few setups which have a sand area for that and wouldnt there be sand in there natural habitat or is tht more clay/dirt etc?
Good point this photo will show theres a screen/mesh wall inside so its like double security theyre buggers at pinging all ova the place huh
Dunno if u can see it in this pic but took lining off the top door and put insect screen on tht to
Heres a pic of my setup, maybe lacking a few locusts but was working a treat untill i got enoyed with flies in the same room & sprayed em with fly spray  (tip-dont use fly spray anywhere close lol)
Top for the adult locusts/breeders and bottom for incubating/hatching the eggs and have some waxmoth/worms under the newspaper
Not the best but it works and cost me next to nothing, any questions fire away!
lol dam i wish i could find roahes around here, thanks to Mark (livingart) I might have some lined up but i wont say no to the offer of stopping by your place someday if i ever get up tht way
beardies are pretty good neally wiped out all my locusts and crix but got them hatching out again now & managed ok without but cant beat the live food so another week or 2 and should be all good again!
