  2. Are you serious timtam, yesterday was 28c in the shade here and 30 in my fish room and 34 on the town clock, and my mates car said 33 outside temp, dam it was muggy I'd much prefer cooler weather after that although it was nice at the river!
  3. NIce bro, what lights you running? mh's?
  4. I havent used 1 yet but have only herd good things about them so will no doubt be getting 1/some once the budget allows for them!
  5. Hiare mai lol might a spelt that wrong, I blame the heat it gone to my head  But welcome all the same 8)
  6. Reliance stock foods is in my head for some reason??
  7. Id love to know who makes them too?
  8. Lol I was asking for that wasnt I, anyway I do try multitask & It works sometimes but I often get distracted and move on from 1 thing to the next which is when i tend to flood things. Although I can cook tea and make a coffee at the same time lol genius The vacume did well for a while there but was straining abit but wasnt untill it was shooting out a nice mist I realised something wasnt right  It still goes but it does make a real loud whistling sound when its first turned on now. Dam fine girl freind you got there rogan
  9. Doesnt hurt to ask. Maybe a reptile & amphibians or both would be more inline, id be keen to use them with some of my silly questions from time to time but what ever goes, this site sure helps me out how it is but I suppose theres always room to grow!
  10. lol yea the years start catching up on ya when you hit 21  , more like I smoked to much wacky as a young lad. seriously though i havent had too bad a floods but have left the hose on a number of times in the last few months, I try to multi task and get distracted easily lol then its out with the towels. The first flood I had I thought my vacume was a wet and dry but figured out it wasnt rather quick once steam was shooting out the top No im not blonde although i was when I was first born.
  11. Arfirkan glad im not the only 1 thats had the odd spilage, to be honest actually i have the odd flood more often than I have a lil spill lol, I try to learn from them though my memory lets me down most of time  just dont tell the landlord haha
  12. Yea your right just dont spill water but sometimes thats easier said than done. The setups I have I bought second hand so were already painted but admitibly there was a couple of nicks/scrapes from where the sump had been put in/taken out for cleaning etc so I guess that just opened it up for water to seep straight in. But yea if its built strong enough & as long as its very well painted & you dont spill water it should be fine I guess.
  13. Have you got a heat lamp at all?? Ive found with my turtles they just love the heat and since getting heat lamps theyre always sunning them selves on a daily basis and wouldnt have them in a tank with out some sort of heat lamp from now on! That turtle in the picture doesnt look too bad, (although a clearer pic would be good) they get abit like that when getting close to shedding there shell which they do/should do each year and once it has it should look like new if its not too bad and given good conditions from now on it will be fine!
  14. This is the best and probably one of the most simple designs ive seen, + its strong and stylie (sp?). http://www.guppy.co.nz/index.php?name=N ... cle&sid=20 Ive just cleaned out my sump in the mdf unit ive got and it appears its been leaking and even though its painted its still warped to buggery and Ive now decided as soon as I can afford it ill be remaking all three units either like above or with those steal frame things that interlock together (from bunnings etc)- Shiuh has a great setup made out the stuff but i cant find where his post on it is. MDF = Mines deemed F*#@d or maybe just "my design failed" but seriously its causing me more trouble than its worth, ok its probably a good couple of years old or more but why not do it once and do it right, it will save any hassel in the future!
  15. A picture would be great. Ive got 3 setups which are like cabinets made from mdf which hold either 3 or 4 tanks which are stacked above each other running to sumps etc, theyre ok but the shleves were the tank/s sit on have warped and I had to put some supports across under the shelve to stop this/support them. I bought them complete so had to make do, but in future if I make anything id never use mdf and if I did i would support it with something much stronger as in time it tends to warp IMO.
  16. Hey man welcome aboard - gotta laugh at the name, good effort
  17. Why not just chuck a couple of bristlenose's in to take care of the algae?
  18. Welcome along this sure is a great site, hope you enjoy. btw is that manakau in auckland or down the bottom of the north island near me (levin)?
  19. Very nice, every one like's rounded melons I got some 40% formalin from the vet and was like $16 for 2 litres of the stuff & that included a crazy handling fee of $10 but still Id reccomend the vets as you'll pay $5-10 in a pet shop for 50ml of 5% stuff. Question does formalin basically do the same as methylene blue?
  20. Dam what a kool cat, how big will nugget get?
  21. I'll go with 13 and isnt tht number bad luck so you have too many, your been greedy lol feal free to send me some
  22. Caryl I dont get what your getting at, If i turn them off it will surely save power and what i mean buy turning them to low been safer is then they if for some reason it gets too cold in the room theyll come on and keep it at a minimum of 22 say! At the moment the rooms about 24 and the tanks in question around 28 so theyre using extra power to heat them to 28 when they'll be fine at 22-24 so i marswell turn em down? hope that makes sence
  23. I thought it had to be a particular type of lead for use with fish? Or is plumbers save as i geuss it goes near water supplys?? Its just sometimes theres heaps on old roofs so can get them from building dismantlers (if there is such a place) or when roofs are replaced etc but i never used it with fish as thought it may leach something into the water.
  24. swt I have never really thought about it as i just though oh yea tropicals are about 26 lol theyl be alrite but when i saw that on planet catfish it got me wundering, thanks for your input. I might turn off the heater all together as tanks seem to stay around 24 C i my fish room without a heater so can save power at the same time. Or I might just turn it rite down to low just to be safe! thanks again
