  4. ive got too many flies 4 swatting + i dont like swatting the dirty lil suckers all around the place lol its so bad i cant even put me cupa done for a minute in the shed (cant have that) without flies landing IN my drink haha and its neally winter so it shouldnt be sooo bad atm, hmmmmmmmm
  5. very nice bulldogod, i have a similiar setup i was using for my beardies but after noticing some have lost there claws (which i presume is from them climbing the mesh) as if they can see out of the enclosure its like the old saying goes "the grass is greener on the otherside" and they always try going up and down the mesh anyone else found this?
  6. thats interesting, ive had success when adding a second male in the past, its like they wake up and compete for the ladies?
  7. hey bro probably just a standard bn but get some pics if u can be bothered ive noticed some of mine get bristles earlier than others, then i get what i think is a female as its a good size with no bristles so put in with a male only to see what i thought to be a female starts grown bristles lol mitzy- how do you know the bn with tiny bristles is a female? has it bred?
  8. how about those fly traps, like a funnel on a bucket, flies go in but cant get out?? anyone used those, im geussing the bait would stink??
  9. yea covering the tanks can be done, the blue tongues seem to attract the flies mre than nething else atm so might make up a screen to fit that tank, but hoping there something to control the flies but with no/lil effect on everything else lol
  10. I know theres natural sprays/dispensers etc but if it kills flies it cant be good for fish, locusts, mealworms, newts etc in the same room can it? Could get an elctric zapper but not sure how effective they are? What do petshops do? other than cleaning
  11. theres another thread u may find if u search it (yur photo ?) with a few photos of members on here!
  12. foreva home, theres no such thing in todays world for humans let alone our fish, cirkey ppl this is pathetic every1s so serious y dont ppl just use or have common sence!!
  13. ive had em breeding when males r just starting to get bristles but can stunt the male if you ova work hm with too many females he doesnt get much time out of the cave feeding etc, but still they breed like mad, i have gbas, bn's, whiptails, another unknown bushynose pair all breeding without any effort at all. only thing not breeding this month is my abns so yea provide a good cave and wamo busy beavers
  14. I just sold a nice mature trio for $120 prices are coming down as always, and petshops do charge more as they should! shop around, buy young if you have time they grow pretty quick and breed at a young age, more money in the young than adults imo but im not a fan of becoming a fish factory lol!
  15. Try the Hawkesbay club book? as said above she should be bak on here soon but if you really need to contact her pm me for her number! Also she mentioned still at same address.

  17. Nope i dont really wanna say it but i lost/killed ALL the newts i got off you  (left out in sun when moving house), not sure how my mate got on with his lot! and then another couple of slightly older jap newts dammit, anyway live an learn the chinese newts i have now (4 of them) came from sumwhere up north, but from 2 differant sources, 1 from a chick on here (mel?) 1 on trademe so very well could be from yours, in saying that i do remember 1 of the ppl that i got mine off said somthing about getn them from a big chain petshop up there? I havent fed whiteworms in ages cant get em breeding that well, bloodworms is the main thing i feed atm & a few mossie larvae/daphnia every so often!
  18. this is another chinese newt in the same tank and is what id call normal colour, any experts know any differant?
  19. cleaned them out & put them in a bigger tank last night and today 1 looks like this (newt on the left) and the other whom i suspect is related to this 1
  20. looks almost normal today, its weird somdays its almost a browny clay like colour
  21. Kool should be interesting to see how it turns out. These 2 ive got looked like plain old chinese newts but over the last 3-4 months (reaching maturity) ive noticed the change in colour, it seems to be a lite brown somedays and others it looks almost normal? could it just be breeding colours? Rebecca do your chinese newts change colour at all when in season?
  22. yea got japs theyre nice but i think going on appearance the chinas would be my pick. im not too sure if these funny colourd 1's are japs or chinas but my geuss is chinese, not even sure if they have a coloured belly anymore, will sort tank out 2mro and try get sum pics
  23. Anyone have any differant looking newts, any pics/for sale please let me know! Info on whats available in nz maybe? I appear to have a pair of newts that have gone this browny colour, looks healthy, & the other newts from a differant source in that tank are the normal dark colour, will try get pics in next day or 2, just curious to whats out there!
