  1. Nice bt youve got there Vee Love the pics of its tongue pass its prett cool huh not sure where it all goes though they remind me of snakes how they stick there tongue in and out
  2. sure sure lol, not sure how i did that, just testing ya
  3. edited - quote mr pleco, sorry Phoenix id have to disagree i think 99% of nz's who want these would want to breed them...for most of us its not really a case of knowing whos got what and how many but more a case of where can we purchase them sorry to hear youve had to rethink about opeing your fish room to people. ive done the same with my small collection of reptiles. Even though most of mine are common some times people have no idea and try there luck resulting in a negative spin off for all who mean well. keep positive and keep breeding..
  4. apparently there's a market for them to be exported. So thats a possibility but I've also heard rumored in the past of a breeder having big losses or maybe lost the lot? other possibility is theyre getting bred up but just havent been made available to all yet. but yea not sure really i would have thought they'd be well and truly available by now. same with hifin bns, theyre prolific breeders but still hard to come by something fishy about the hobby in this country
  5. off topic forum still has topics otherwise it would get abit confusing dont you think. example - someone asks are you male or female i respond, my dogs eat grapes  thats off topic of the off topic topic
  6. your onto it maiden hair fern i should have known. Yep other plants have pink or blue flowers, can grow them from leaf cuttings. I have a feeling they didnt do so well in that setup so maybe not a good idea but the fern is a goody and nice on the eye
  7. bloodworms works here to normally drop them in at night time & after a few days theres normally eggs in one of the caves
  8. good question i cant remember the names now  (pic was a good couple of years ago). plants were growing down the bottom of my Grandads orchid houses in low light moist conditions. My mother had the bushy fern like one in her garden also and will know the name of it, my minds gone blank ill try find out. Deno - adults around 10cm upto 14 maybe not sure on live expectancy maybe 10 years?
  9. thats freaky...are use twins/brother and sister? lol jj Libra
  10. Thats good fruitfly are great just got to keep up with making new cultures lmsmith theyre just like little clones of the adults theyre really neat especially in groups. Hope livingart doesnt mind me adding a couple of pics, i was just going through me old photobucket young newt makes whiteworm look big Spot the newt just about made a break for it not good to hold them really, can be toxic apparently and pretty delicate skin like some frogs.
  11. nice one, babies are good escape artists thats for sure. ive never seen my adults climb glass. I had no lid for a while but thought id better be safe rather than sorry later.
  12. only time my common whips bred was when i neglected them and the tank was majorly overgrown with indian fern. may of been feeding microworms but cant remember tbh. only had 6-10 get to adult size They still lay aggs every so often now but if i see wrigglers they dont last long :-? definately seem abit harder to raise compared to bristle noses. good luck the reds are very nice
  13. besides the orange which is neat it has nice clean bold yellow markings to
  14. I drop a cricket or 2 in if they dont eat i take them back out, if they eat them i put more in. i find if bd hungry it will go straight after them if it doesnt then theres a good chance it will be tomorrow  the crickets can nibble toes, tails ,eyes etc adding some vege/salad (bd salads perfect) for cricket to get moisture from helps stop this but i still think best to only feed what the dragon will eat in one sitting. Anthony - nice setup i like the sand
  15. seen this on 3news last night, only 70k to fly them over one goldfish in a bowl per seat  mentioned they will be going to a breeding facility in tauranga (i assume after art expo)
  16. crickets mainly, mealworms every now and again. can also feed meat on kebab stick they will sometimes take it
  17. yea good to offer veges but they eat more insects when young and more an more vege with age. ive had 30-40C recommended for basking but also on overseas sites tell me 100F+ (37.7C) most aiming at 110-115F (43-46C) basking temp and cool end of tank down around 80F (26C) id be interested to hear what other bd keepers aim for actually..40-50 does seem hot but then again the bds seem to lap it up they only bounce of the walls every now and again  ive found if bds not getting enough heat they will be right under heat light often if rock/heat light to hot they will sit off to the side of light etc.
  18. can loose appetite a lil prior to shedding but hardly noticeable especially when young whats basking temp? if to cold that could be why not so hungry basking temp/rock should be 35+ I aim for 40-50C for young bds my babies i had at that age were eating 20 or more lil crickets each a day, feeding morning and night
  19. not me, does look nice though. just in the middle of and right of pic that little red stuff is azolla (i call it large duckweed) turtles lap it up
